Friday Feast #16? ... & another Aloha Friday!

Friday Feast!
Wanna Play?

Appetizer
How much money do you plan to spend this upcoming holiday season?
Oh dear... waaaaaay more than Hubby wants me to, I'm sure! I really haven't
gotten that far in the planning yet.

Soup
What was the last television show you watched, and was it good?
I don't remember the last time I watched a television show... but I'm nearly positive it wasn't worth my time!

Salad
If you had to paint the walls of your living room tomorrow, what color would you choose?
Well now! I've been THINKING about doing that very thing! Not tomorrow - but soon...ish.... I'm thinking of going with a light tan... right now one wall is navy blue and the rest are white - so it would be quite a change. The foyer is all navy - so it would have to change too!

Main Course
Name something clever or practical you have thought of that should be invented, but hasn’t yet.
ROFL! You give me FAR too much credit! I'm just NOT that clever! I can't think of ANYthing I've thought of like that!

Dessert
List 3 things you would like to receive as gifts this upcoming holiday season.
1.) Maid service
2.) Theater Tickets (not movies... THEATER!)
3.) Travel plans

Wanna Play?

The Rules: Very simple really. Just visit Kailani and answer HER question in her comments. Sign her Mr. Linky thing, and then go post a question on your blog for others to come answer in your comments! Of course, if you don't wish to do all that, you can just answer MY question in MY comments! LOL!

My Question Today:

What was your favorite story book when you
were a child?

My Answer:

There was a book called Little Black Sambo ... and because of the title it became controversial and I think might have been taken off the market. But it was a great STORY about a little black boy who gets into a tight spot with some tigers and ends up tricking them to chase each other in a circle sO fast that they turn into butter! He uses the butter to make pancakes and eats a LOT of them! I LOVED that story!!!

My favorite book from my childhood was "Please Try To Remember the First of Octember!" by Theo. LeSieg (an alias of Dr. Suess).
Your's was Little Black Sambo? I'd never heard of it until I saw the controversary surrounding it on a documentary not too long ago.

I can't really remember any storbooks, but the books that I simply ADORED growing up were the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books. I simply devoured those and loved the mystery aspects.

I remember Little Black Sambo! I do beleive that Sambo along with the Briar Rabbit stories have all been "outlawed".
I have always loved "Cinderella"

Ahhh. King of the Wind by Marguerite Henry. I read it over and over and cried at the end every time. I recently read it with my 2d grader, and cried at the end just as hard as I used to.

There are so many great stories I liked to read, all of the Nancy Drew books, but I remember my favorite story, that I loved my mom to read to me was the Velveteen Rabbit.

Great feast for today :) I hope you'll have your travel plans sorted soon :)

Happy weekend!

By Anonymous MommyBa, at 11/02/2007 8:39 PM

Hi Melli, I would love maid service too!!! I was a big fan of the Nancy Drew books and spent many summers curled up in a outdoor swing with one of her books in my hands. Baba

I have maid service. :-) It's worth the $$.

My favorite book was Green Eggs and Ham. My mother read it to me so much that she had it memorized and still remembered almost every word years and years later.

Hi Melli. I missed FF again and hope I can join next week.

Thanks for your comment on my Aloha Friday. You made me smile. I love your ideas of unique costumes.

My favorite story book when I was a child was Thumbelina.

Okay....so ignore the comment above. I just came from reading my comments and re-read your comment....the "full" feed sends out recent comments too? *shrug* [I think I went in and reset it now...the way it was...I changed blog tempates, and that is probably where the difference lies.]

I can't remember the title but it had a little boy and a huge animated digging machine. What was it called?
