Did You KNOW???

I've had a "topic" for blogging on my mind recently... and I try to keep a list of things when I think of them so I don't forget - but this one never made the list and kept slipping my feeble mind! Then yesterday (or maybe the day before), my GOOD friend, Anni (Hootin' Anni) made a comment in my blog and it SO reminded me that I wanted to blog this!
Here's the way it went. I posted my New Year's Resolutions... and Anni read them! Then she said that she totally understands me wanting to "declutter" - but that she would get rid of the "returnees" rather than the "stuff" -- because it would be the noise clutter that bothered her most. Then she said "But then again, knowing you, you thrive on "busy-ness". Hmmmm...
Now Anni and I have known each other for a good many years -- about 8 years I'm thinking... might be a little less... and we've been through A LOT together in those 8 years. And she does KNOW me pretty darned well! But... we don't live near each other, and we don't just pop in to one another's homes and chit chat of a day... we've only actually met in person ONCE... because she's one of my on-line friends. So she knows me HERE... and she's known me in several other on-line situations. (groups and message boards) She KNOWS my sense of adventure! She knows I love to travel and meet on-line friends! And she knows some things about me that the rest of you will NEVER know! BUT... she doesn't know that I DON'T thrive on busyness! I enjoy busyness from time to time -- both planned AND spontaneous! But I THRIVE on my quiet time alone. I am a person that NEEDs - physically NEEDs mOre "alone" time than any person really has a God given gift of! I ADORE my family! Make no mistake about it -- I absolutely ADORE them and will do anything in the world for them - and with them! But sometimes I need them to leave me ALONE! Really "alone". And of course, this doesn't happen too often... so I play hookey... so I can have some! And now Anni will know THIS about me. And the rest of you probably never suspected this either...
And I'll share ONE MORE secret about me too. You'll NEVER believe this, but I swear to you it's true! I am shy. LOL! But ONLY in big crowds. BUT... it can be a big crowd of allllllll my friends or entirely made up of people I know -- and I still close down and get shy! When I'm with a "small" group I'm fine. ( 3 or 4 is my favorite... I can handle up to about 6 ) Life of the party so to say! But put me in a large group and I just want to crawl off in a corner and hide! A real wall flower. And I always keep this to myself, actually feeling somewhat... um... maybe "ashamed"? about it... but it's really something that I WISH people knew! Because when I'm put in that situation, they seem to always think I'm "in a mood" and being a "snob" or "standoffish" -- and really I'm being SHY and wishing someone would come drag me out of it!!!
Sooooooo... this brings me to you. Share with me something that other people do NOT know about you! It can be something that just we bloggers would never guess -- or, like my shyness - something that even your BEST FRIEND would never guess! Just help us get to know "the REAL you"! I think this is one of those things that would be better in a "post" of your own -- but if you prefer to just leave it in my comments that's fine too. If you "blog this" ... please DO let me know!

Mr. Wonderful call this alone time "Cave Time". It gives you an opportunity to regroup, recharge and revitalize. It also lets your spirit catch up with your body. I'm not surprised at either of your revelations. I'm pretty much a open book so I'll have to think on this matter. Have a good one. Lazy Daisy

You know I am sitting here trying to think of something that even my best best friend does not know about me and I will have to agree with Daisy..I dont think there is much that everyone does not already know!! I am like her...I am an open book because what you see is what you get from me. I am just ME and that is it...Like it or leave it..that is me. NOW I guess I would not have guessed you were shy though..Hmmm...not at all. You love to have fun so shy would not be my choice of a word for you.. Sandy

A big Texas Howdy to you Melli!! Well, what I meant about 'busy-ness' ---it was comparing ME to you. See, I don't like busy. I'd much prefer my family to be out of state and only phone calls between us. I could NOT live a life of having them all in my home.
I love 'em dearly, but once they become married or settled in life like my two kids, they should NOT depend on me.
I like to have a quiet home. Like I said in your comment the other day, YOU like busy-ness more than I. I like to be alone with my hubby and or by myself more than anything these days. We just had too stressful life with family living in the same town for years....now it's time for us.
And as for me....something no-one knows? Hmmmmmm, I'm not nor ever WILL be racial.
I love this blogging today Melli. But really, I wasn't implying you LIVE by being busy...just you don't mind it as much as I do...you tolerate it as a thing in life...I would fight it tooth and nail. hehehehe

Ok. I'll put it here, but don't tell anyone else. I paint a pretty little picture of my life on my blog...everything I say there is the absolute truth. But there's a lot I don't tell, mostly about crazy social situations, how I'm too nice to weird people, and end up buying pepper spray, and filing police reports. I haven't dated in two years, and my social life is still total chaos.
Ok. Shhh now, ok?

I don't think there is anything that my best friends don't know about me. We have been friends for over 40 years and we've been through hell and back together. So we all know eachother inside and out. I don't do well with too much people unless it's my family and close friends. I'm a little bashful around strangers. And I don't do well without my family because they are the most important things in mt life.

Melli, what I don't show is that I am exactly like you...I love being with people, but thrive on my alone time. I have been this way for years. And yes, I love social situations...for a while, then when they're over, leave me alone ;). I do best in smaller groups...any more than a very few and I can't keep up with what's going on, and feel lost and out of place. But, like you, give me a small group and I can be the life of the party :)
Oh, I have so many secrets...but I have a lot of family and friends that read my blog, and I can't tell them :(

Hi Melli
I'm a lot like you and Anni - I'm often the life of the party - not in a "look-at-me" way, but more like, "Hey!, let's play a game, or let's all go out to eat or see a film way!. It doesn't bother me conducting a concert in front of a thousand people or getting an audience to clap and sing along, but I have a kind of protective shield up so no one can cross over into my private space. So while being "public" I'm also being very "private" at the same time. I'm really shy and this is the methode I use to hide that. After a concert when everyone wants to go out to a cafe, I often will go home to re-charge my inner battery. I need my quiet time to be able to be out-going. That's why I'm really not a party person, because they take up my weekend when I need to get my energy in balance again.
So people who think they know me, don't really know me at all!
Good blog.
Hugs

That's funny I am the same way. For some reason I am quiet when there is more than 4 people. I thrive on my alone time as well.

Melli - I keep thinking about things people don't know about me, when I think of something I immediately say to myself: No way I'm blogging about that. I am definately not an open book. I worry about future or current employers reading my blog. I think I will be more interesting in retirement.
