Cruisin' Baltimore...

Saturday morning Dennis and I got up early, stopped at 7-11 for coffee, and headed up the road to Baltimore for a day of boating fun with Bob & Annie. This is their boat - Digger! She's a beauty! Bob is totally anal about taking care of her -- and I don't blame him! She was hands down the prettiest boat in the harbor. Her teak glistened in the sun and not a speck of dirt could be found! She is what we call ... pristine! Annnnnd she is FUN!

That's Annie greeting us!
We left out of their quiet little harbor, and headed for the big city docks!

This is Captain Bob!
who, by the way, HATES to be photographed

(we're starting to think HE might be part of the Witness Protection Program!)

Naturally, as we were cruising along, we came across a few little interesting things... like a little lighthouse that we never knew existed. We have no idea of it's name. ( IF it has one... but we assume they all do!) Then we passed a coal barge being pushed by a little tug boat. I've always LOVED tug boats - don't know why... just have! Baltimore is a very industrial harbor - so there are lots of different types of vessels to be seen!

Then we came across Fort McHenry...

You remember ... and the rockets red glare... the bombs
bursting in air... gave proooooof through the night...
YEP! It's still there!

And just around the bend from the fort, we enter into the Baltimore Harbor.

Off to the right we can see car carriers...

And to the left is the Domino Sugar boat loading up.
It was gone before our day was up.
(I would love to do a tour of that refinery - but alas,
they do not give tours!)

Then we passed a paddle-boat...

... and a duck! This duck IS a boat! Or is it a car?
It actually drives up out of the water onto the street!
And vice versa!

And that brings us into Baltimore's INNER Harbor!
Our final destination!
I wonder if you recognize those dragons?
(see Wordless Wednesday below)

This is the Rusty Scupper - - where we went to eat for my birthday!

Sooooooo we parked the boat...
amongst the peasants...
LOL!

Stay tuned for the visit
around the harbor
&
The return trip!

Melli -- sounds like half of a great trip. I hope that photo of Captain Bob doesn't get him shot -- or you!

What a beautiful day you had on this nice boat. And I immediately recognized your friend Bob, he indeed is under protection because he witnessed a mass murderer killing a prostitute ! Shouldn't say that, now it's public.
I am busy for the moment to get everything ready for our trip to Italy on Friday. That will be funny when I will see all these people again some of them must be in their 20th now and last time they were babies or toddlers, lol !
I also had to take cat Lisa to the vet, she had 40° fiever !! Now she got shot and hope she will not cause troubles while we are away. My friend and neighbor takes care of them. She does it already since 32 years !

It seems you had a grand day, beautiful weather, fun friends, things to watch, just perfect! Yes, I recognized the dragons!
