Ruby Tuesday ... and Stuff... In Which The Painting Begins...
First Things First!
Our Darling ELLA has arrived in Pennsylvania --
where she promptly got herself into
a bit of hot water.
(and I almost missed it... DO go visit!)

(and I almost missed it... DO go visit!)
Thus... it has begun. On Sunday my plan was to get up Monday morning, have a cup o' coffee, and get to work painting! That was my plan. Until I remembered Mom had her first cleaning at the dentist's at 12:15 Monday. Just right smack dab in the middle of the day! WHAT was I thinkin'? I wasn't thinking. So I put off starting until we got home from the dentist - not wanting to get "just a bit" done, and then have to clean up, and then get it all back out again in the afternoon. Which is exactly what happened when I did start in the afternoon! I got "just a bit" done before I had to clean up to make dinner and head off to Bible study! So here we go! Right from day one I'm behind schedule! ROFL!!! All I'm doing at this point is priming the navy blue walls. I can not turn them to a very light sandy tan without priming them first! Soooooooo... once that's done - on Tuesday, then I will be able to start with the actual PAINT!
You know the really really GOOD thing about having Alzheimer's disease? You get to go to the dentist and be tortured for a full hour but THINK it was only about 15 minutes, and then forget it forever within an hour! That is ALMOST a natural anesthesia! A year ago she would remember really traumatic events for up to 4 hours after they happened.... but apparently that is no longer the case. I had Dennis ask her when he got home how her appointment was. She looked at him like his head fell off and said "I didn't have no dentist appointment today!" ... and she turns to me... "did I?" LOL! I said she did. She looked back at Dennis and said "well... it musta gone alright cuz he didn't tell me I gotta come back or nothin'." I laughed. I said "Nope! You sure don't! Not until next Tuesday!" Then she said ... "well how come he didn't tell ME that? Why'd he only tell YOU?" With that I just shook my head... "I dunno Mom... maybe he knows I keep track of the appointments..." OY!

Melli -- you are so lucky your MIL doesn't get frustrated and angry when she forgets. Some folks with Alsheimers can be very hard to manage.

bless her heart...if there is anything good about Alzheimer's it would definitely be forgetting all the bad things in life. Gotcha all prayed up. I love the after pictures! Hope you get the priming done today.

Glad you can look on the bright side with Alzheimer's.
Love the little shoes. Such tiny feet! So pretty.

You are right that Alzheimers has some benefits!! You would forget...I would like that after something that was traumatic like going to the dentist..
I hope that you are still hanging in with all that care and your ordinary life that you try to have...I know it is hard on you...
We are fine here..just hanging in..so little work still.

Pretty slippers!
The stopping and starting is what is so frustrating to me on any project. It seems hard to have time to just dig in and get it done. But once started it is easier to work on from time to time, so hopefully the preliminary stuff will go quickly.
Forgetting the bad stuff has to be the one best thing about Alzheimer's!
Have a good day!

Kiddo...I'm thinking you are going to need more of the white stuff before the tan goes on.
The way you describe your mil she sounds so much like Edith in All in the Family. OMGosh I can just hear her now. I guess that is the one good thing about Alzheimer's...the forgetting about the bad stuff. You handle it so well, dear.

Pretty shoes and a good pictureThe painting has at least begun or the priming anyway.Little by little to the end of the road.
You are just what Mom needs. I'm sure Dennis can see that as well. It is hard but there are moments when she makes you smile.

Lovely ruby slippers!
I hope you enjoy painting. It's sure not one of my favorite tasks. I'll be anxious to see how it turns out!
Did you know I've joined your alphabet challenge? I have G and H posted tonight. It is soooo fun! and a little frustrating too.

the ruby slippers are so pretty. I so wanted a pair when I was a little girl.
You have started with the painting. I have a bathroom that has been waiting for two years.

Love the slippers. Good luck with the painting. You're like my friend Kim - always redecorating. I envy your energy and ambition.
