Kitty Love

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Luz stopped by yesterday after school. Her Daddy had to pick up some stuff. She looked so cute in that little outfit I had NO choice but to start snappin' pictures! Unfortunately - as what always happens, I forget to put my flash up and mess up the really cute shots! But this one I did get - and I don't even mind that her eyes are closed THIS time! What you can't see in this photo is the sparkles on her butt, the red tinsel garland in her hair, and the little red snowflake earrings dangling from her lobes! You'll just have to trust me -- she was TOO cute!
I bought some eggnog at the store yesterday. I'm not a big eggnog drinker -- unless it's homemade. I just bought a pint. I thought I would use it to cream my coffee. I THOUGHT that would be really YUMMY! I got up this morning and put that eggnog IN my coffee and found out I am DUMB! First off, despite how sweet eggnog IS, it is NOT as sweet as those flavored creamers we all love. It definitely needed some sugar added (or sweetener). But even after putting an entire pink packet in it was still ucky. I choked down 1/2 the cup before I threw it out and started over -- with Pumpkin Spice creamer! NOW I'm ready to blog!
I got a new picture in the mail yesterday of my little Compassion girl! She is sO cute. Just a month younger than Luz and they are growing just alike! Lesli is at a taller thinner stage right now - and so is Luz! But no smile... do you think they tell those children not to smile? I would still help EVEN if she was happy! LOL! I think she IS a happy little girl. She draws beautiful pictures and likes to ride her bike and play soccer with her dog! She has a DOG! That one did surprise me! Oh how I love to get those letters! Two in two weeks! I'm blessed!
Our snow is almost gone now. It's supposed to rain hard tonight - so that will wash the remainders away. We never get as much as the surrounding areas because we are a peninsula. With the river on one side and the bay on the other the warm water keeps snow away for the most part! It's got to be a really HUGE storm for us to get any real accumulation.
Okay... I really DO have to get serious about Christmas... so I guess I'm going out shopping today. There are SOME things I just can't buy on line! Y'all have a good day!
My beautiful SNAZZY red crane
People, we have a problem. Okay... maybe WE don't. Maybe I do! Why? Well, I'll tell you! I was traveling to Virginia the other day when on the OTHER side of the beltway I noticed this reallllllly SNAZZY bright red crane! *points up* Yea... that one! Now, I was in kind of a hurry cuz I had an appointment but I noticed the next exit and took note of it! (see? ALREADY a plan was forming!) Now I admit that had I not had an appointment I surely would have just TAKEN the next exit, turned around and went back right then and their, but... I was being conscientous! So on the way home from my appointment, I noted the exit and new I wanted the next one after it. Yep! Sure enough - there was my big beautiful SNAZZY red crane! Of course, the exit lead to... a construction site. DUH! No biggy! I pulled into like I belonged there... oh but wait! I could only see the top of the crane from there. Soooooo... what did I do? I got out of the car and maneuvered my way across 6 lanes of traffic without a median only to find out that the beautiful SNAZZY red crane wouldn't all fit in my view finder! Well DUH! It's TALL! Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry Tall! So of course, I took 12 shots of each half when two would have done beautifully and ran back across the 6 lanes of traffic, (well, I didn't run... I sort of had to wait ... a rather long time... for traffic to semi slow down to where I actually could dodge getting hit!), tucked my camera back in my purse and headed on home! What I SHOULD have done was take the NEXT exit and come back around and shoot that baby from across the beltway! THAT plan didn't hit me till I was almost home. Dang it. See? I told ya I have a problem! ( i'm crazy... that's what...)
Ruby Tuesday... First Day of School... and a meme....
Ruby Tuesday is hosted by Mary, The Teach
I've known for weeeeeks that my first
RED Chili pepper was going to be a
Ruby Tuesday one day...
What I didn't know...
was how it would come out!
But it was PRICELESS!
Yesterday was Luz's real birthday and after her kindergarten orientation, we met at Ledo's for dinner so I could give her her presents. After she had opened them all, I had a lunch bag I had brought -- because I had TOLD her that she would get my first pepper! She LOVES them and she has been eyeballing it the whole time it was growing and changing color! So I opened the lunch bag and pulled it out to show it to her... and she took a BITE out of it!!! Right there in the restaurant! Neither Amanda nor I could believe it... but she did! And then Amanda told her she had to put the rest back and they would take it home and make a salad or something with it! She ALMOST bit into one of the tomatoes I brought her too! But Amanda stopped her! ROFL! She is such a funny kid! I love her so much!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So TODAY is Luz's first day of school! By a strange twist of fate, at the last minute she is no longer attending her neighborhood school, but is now attending MY neighborhood school instead. We do feel that this will be in her best interest... Amanda & Hector are once again doing some job maneuvering and if Luz is in school near me, then at least I am always available no matter what comes up in her day! Needless to say, I am THRILLED because she is in a school that I have taught in -- I know the principal and many of the teachers, and I am 100% comfortable knowing where she's at!

Pin on the nametag...

Last minute advice from Daddy...

She IS ready!

The bus arrives...

Bye-bye Baby Girl!!!
Have a GREAT day!

Annnnnnnd.... The BOOK Meme... AGAIN - but it's different every time! I stole obtained THIS one from Quilly! Just this morning as a matter of fact!

The rules are:

1. Collect the book that you have most handy: WOF A Grand New Day (devotional)

2. Turn to page 161: 159... 160... yep! There it is!

3. Find the 5th complete sentence: Found it

4. Cite the sentence on your blog: “But there are signs along the way that one's body is changing." (not what ya expected from my devotional, huh?)

5. Pass it on to 5 other people: Yea... rules were made to be broken? If you wanna do it... do it! Then let me know! I'll come visit!

Ruby Tuesday... and ... Gifts of Nature...

Ruby Tuesday is hosted by Mary, The Teach

I want this to be my next home!
(just one step closer to Heaven!)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I got a gift from God yesterday! By next week I may decide it wasn't MUCH of a gift... that remains to be seen! But yesterday it was definitely a gift! I wish I had had more time to PLAY with it! I was on my way out to Bible Study when I suddenly noticed it! Of course I grabbed my camera, and about the same time I noticed it, Jewl noticed it! So I got nervous that her incessant barking would scare it away. These really aren't the quality pics I would have LIKED to have gotten! They are taken through my front window. But I got what I could - and these are the BEST of the 30 or so I shot quickly! You know... I DO live in the country -- this should be a familiar sight to me - but honestly - we have an 80 pound Black Lab -- this is the FIRST one I've EVER seen! It was sO exciting!
Isn't she CUTE???
(it's definitely a she!)
Ohhhh! Is this for ME???
(well, sure - why not... the squirrels think it's theirs too!)
Mmmm munch munch munch... munch munch munch...
Huh??? Whatdya mean I got seed on my nose?
Sadly, I HAD to leave for Bible Study! I know I don't really WANT this gal coming back... and I doubt she will... but one never knows... I hear they CAN be pretty insistant! I just hope she doesn't find my trash can garden! I can handle her eating bird seed and the peanuts I throw out for the squirrels... but she BEST stay OFF my deck! However... when I opened the door to leave, Jewl shot out like lightening -- and I didn't even know racoons could CLIMB trees, never mind how FAST they can climb them!!! That little girl scurried up that tree - you'd of thought she was a giant squirrel! I wish I'd video taped it! Hind sight... But I have a feeling Jewl let her know that this was NOT her territory!
Ruby Tuesday... and stuff...
Ruby Tuesday is hosted by Mary, The Teach
Well, c'mon... the FLOWERS are pretty! (actually I like the fly's shiny back too! Big it!)
**************************
Oy! Soooo yesterday I had this almost sorta wonderful day planned! This is how a lot of my days go. There was this place that I always wanted to go to as a child... only my mother would never take me -- said it was too far away. (well, that was her reason) So, when Amanda was small, I looked for it only to find out that it had closed down. The land had been purchased by a developer and it was just ... gone. Well, the other day I was reading this Maryland magazine, and something was mentioned about something that sounded very similar... and so I got online and started investigating and found out that it's "sorta" back. Ohhhhhh I got sO excited! I immediately started plotting and planning to take Luz and Amanda there! I wanted to take them BOTH because if it is indeed baaaaaaaack, then Amanda would want to be there to see Luz enjoy it. BUT... I didn't want to TELL Amanda (or Luz) about it because I'm not sure "how back" it really is! It seems a farm in the same area has been able to obtain a lot of the pieces from this place, and has restored them and is trying to put it back together again - maybe just a little different. But since I was never actually THERE as a child I wouldn't know the difference anyway... now would I??? LOL! But anyway... I wanted to keep it a secret and I didn't want to make a BIG deal about it because I just didn't know what we were getting into. I really would have LIKED to just sort of take them out for a drive and STUMBLE across it... but you can't DO that with Amanda! So... I just told her I wanted to take her to a place that I HOPED would be a lot of fun, but that honestly I just wasn't suuuuure... and she went for it! Soooooo yesterday was the day, Mom & I got our acts together and got out by 10:00 - picked Amanda & Luz up by 11:00 and headed up there. It's about 45 minutes from their house, so we stopped and had lunch cuz we wanted everyone to be NOT hungry so we could play for a long time if we desired to. We finally arrived at the place around 1:30 only to find out that it is CLOSED on MONDAYS!!! Oyyyyyyyy VEY! I'm sure it probably SAID that on their website ... somewhere! I'm also sure I didn't SEE it! Soooo... we had passed a park - a county park - about 1/4 mile back, and we decided to just turn around and go there. Well... in the turning around process Luz spotted The Castle! "NANA!!! There's a CASTLE!!! It's a FAIRY PRINCESS CASTLE!!!" Oh boy. I was busted! Yes Lucy Loo ... it is! "Is THAT where we were going Nana???" Yes Luz... it was... "Ohhhhhh I WANNA go there Nana!!!" Sooo... Amanda says well, we can go on Thursday or Friday... I have appointments Wednesday and Luz has a play date tomorrow. Well! A PLAY date! Perfect! I suggested and Amanda arranged for the play date to come WITH us and we will go there tomorrow! Luz will have 10x as much fun with a friend along and won't have to wait an "eternity"! So stay tuned for Tomorrow's post which will CERTAINLY be about the place with the princess castle! In the meantime, I will tell you that it may have been a God thing for us to end up at Centennial Park yesterday. We had a ball! They have an AWESOME playground. And miles and miles and miles of trails. And we rented a pedal boat and did some water exploration! So the day was not a loss at all! In fact it was a GREAT day --- and today will be ANOTHER great day, both spent with two of my favorite girls in the whole wide world!
Amanda & Luz slide together!
(she's almost getting too big to do that with!)
Look at the FACE on this!
Climbing is her one weak spot...
she'll get there eventually - but
it's really not her favorite activity.
Mom in the pedal boat...
We heard 17 different stories about how her mother's brothers/her younger brothers/her uncles/her mother's uncles/... pushed/tossed/threw/... her/her aunt/her sister/and her/... in the water one time and she stood there and told/yelled/hollered at them to come get her out or if she told Mama they were really gonna get it! But they were gonna get it anyway cuz she was gonna beat the crap out of 'em when she got out!!! And YES, we DID ask her several times - just to clarify - if she was really STANDING there in the water - and she said yes! And we DID ask her why she didn't just walk out!? And she said cuz she was TOO scared of the water! ROFL! But... each time she told the story, it only happened ONCE and it NEVER happened again! Except the time they took her to a church revival to be baptized... but that's a whole 'nuther set of stories! *whew*
OH! Annnnnnnnnnd my friend John was BACK at Bible Study last night with us!!! He is doing SO great! I'll tell ya -- he's not going to need that walker much longer! He is doing GREAT!!! GOD is sooooooooooo GOOD!!!
Oh... by the way... I just meant to tell you guys that I LOOOOOVED all your ideas for what I SHOULD have done with those pictures yesterday! Wish I'd thought to do ANY one of them! LOL!
Ruby Tuesday... and a meme...
Ruby Tuesday is hosted by Mary, The Teach
Red Hat Bessie!
(a cow after my own heart!)
She was just "hangin' around" at the
Fair Oaks Dairy
in Indiana!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Stolen from Thom (my supplier of late)... this meme started out as a Saturday 9... but today it's going to be a Tuesday Almost Ten. *nods*

1. Do you prefer to host or be a guest at a party? Either. (If I'm hosting can we do it on Friday? The house will be clean!)

2. Would you rather go to a large party or a small dinner party? Small! I love "get togethers" ... I'm not really fond of "parties". As a matter of fact, I avoid them like the plague!

3. What is you worst flaw? Oh just pick one! Right now my worst flaw is probably not being willing to share (my family Facebook account with friends).

4. What is your best character trait? I Love.

5. What habit in others annoys you? Selfishness.

6. What qualities in others do you admire? Love. Caring. Sense of humor!

7. If you could change something about yourself, what would it be? I would love God more. (it's an addiction) And... I would be Mary Poppins! (practically perfect in every way!)

8. Do you tend to be shy with strangers? It depends. I'm shy with strangers that are going to be around forever... like new church people. But if someone strikes up a conversation in the grocery store, I'll talk forever!

9. Do you prefer to lead or follow in a group of people? That depends also! If I'm "comfortable" to lead whatever it is that needs leading, then by all means - bring it on! But if it's not my particular "thing" - then I definitely want to follow!

Ruby Tuesday... and The UNimportant Meme...

Ruby Tuesday is hosted by Mary, The Teach

My new Mandevilla
I took plenty of pics while it is still gorgeous and ALIVE!
(who knows how long that will last...)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thom (Thoms Place 4 Well Whatever) tagged me for this meme so long ago I can't even remember when! Here's how it's supposed to work...
I mention the person who tagged me, which I just did, then I list 6 unimportant things that make me happy and then I'm supposed to tag 6 more people which will not happen! But if you would LIKE to do this meme and you are stealing it from ME, you may certainly tell me you did and I will be happy to come have a look at what makes YOU happy! Deal? Deal!
I have gone back and forth, back and forth on this meme for toooooo long! I'll put something on the list, and then think NO! That is waaaaaaay to important to me to be considered UNimportant... sooooo thinking up SIX UNimportant things that really truly dO make me happy was HARD... things that make me happy ARE important - to me. But I think I've got it. These are things that I couuuuuld live without... if I had to... but that I really, REALLY enjoy!
(obviously no family or friends are mentioned because they are ALL too important for this meme!)
1. An adorable little gray elephant.
2. A CLEAN house.
3. Hats! You all know I love hats! I just do! A sun hat makes me happy... a really outrageous gaudy Queen Mum hat makes me VERY HAPPY!!! I love ALL her hats!
4. A good book. Something uplifting and happy. Something I can just really snuggle into!
5. A really REALLY gooooooooood cup of coffee. Cream & sugar please. (to go with that book)
Not just ANY cup of coffee. I mean, my morning coffee IS good, and I enjoy it... but it's just standard, gotta get up, gotta have java .... I'm talking about when you stop somewhere for a cup of coffee or you order a cup after dinner, and you're not sure what you're getting, but it turns out to be GOOOOOOD! Ya know? A really HAPPY cup of coffee!
6. An umbrella and a walk in the rain.
Ruby Tuesday... and Favorite Things
Ruby Tuesday is hosted by Mary, The Teach
I just love this mailbox I found in front of the
Riva Volunteer Fire Department!
Too cute!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Barbara did this meme on her blog yesterday... and invited me to do it too... 20 Favorite Things.... but ya know... I've told my favorite things at least a million times on this blog! Suuurely you all know my favorite singer, my favorite color and my favorite food! I've done so many meme's that y'all know more about me than my husband does!!! Sssoooooo... I decided THIS time I'm doing my 2nd Favorite Things!

20 2nd Favorite Things...

1. Color…Tan... since I don't have a favorite color it was really HARD to pick a 2nd favorite!
2. Dessert… pecan pie - same with this one! Too many FIRST favorites!
3. Smell… coffee
4. Flower… gladiolas
5. Animal… polar bear
6. Month… September - still warm enough to swim, nights are getting cooler, my birthday, twins birthday... lots of good stuff.
7. Beverage… unsweetend ice tea with lemon
8. Pair of shoes… sneakers
9. Snack… I don't snack much... maybe Fritos.
10. Song… Nope! WAAAAAAAAY too many!
11. Book… hmmm.... 2nd favorite... I don't read ANY of them more than once... except the Bible... so ummmm.... Winnie The Pooh!
12. Fruit…canteloupe
13. Hairstyle- long long long down to my butt and beyond... but I'll never wear it like that cuz my hair will NOT grow that long!
14. Piece of clothing… capri jeans
15. Store to clothes shop…Peebles
16. Season…spring
17. Hobby… reading
18. Thing to collect…I gave up collecting. I don't want to collect ANYthing! I only want to collect empty space!
19. Movie… HOME movies! hahaha...
20. Restaurant…hmmm... maybe Mike's in Annapolis

Telling 2nd favorites still get's too jumbled up in with favorites... especially on the questions that have no real answer like favorite movie? Favorite color? Favorite restaurant? NEXT time I'm doing "If you were going to enjoy these things right now, this minute, today... which would you pick?" LOL! That's the only way to really do it! FAVORITES is such a relative term!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not a lot going on these days. Yesterday was quiet. Went to Bible study last night -- we finished up Esther. We had a little Purim celebration, and one of the gals read all the blessings and the entire book of Esther (from the Message) and we all boo'd Haman and shook noise makers each time his name was read! Not being Jewish, and having never celebrated Purim, it gave us a good idea of the hows and why's of this Jewish celebration! And it was fun! We also ate some yummy cookies called Haman's Hats. Darn! I should have taken a PICTURE of them! They were cute!
Shame on me...
Ruby Tuesday...
Ruby Tuesdayis hosted by Mary, The Teach
Anyone care to take a GUESS what they are?
My son-in-law has been fiddling with them
a LOT lately... and my husband thinks
they are really cool!
I just think they're pretty!
Well, QUILLY is a genius! She guessed exactly what they are and didn't even TELL you guys! They are indeed the pin tumblers that go inside a key-lock. My son-in-law has just completed his locksmith classes and is now a certified locksmith. My husband just loves playing with his lock picking tools! Breaking into key-locks has become BIG FUN around my house! So, you might wonder WHY all the different colors? Because each of those pins are a different size - and they only vary by 1/1000th of an inch from one box to the next. So they separate them by color as well! They DO make a nice Ruby Tuesday too!
Ruby Tuesday... Modesty Revisited - (our answer) ... and STUFF!
Ruby Tuesdayis hosted by Mary, The Teach
Red Eyed Dragon!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So... how do WE explain "modesty" to a 4 year old?

LOL! Boy we had fun with that question yesterday! You guys are awesome! Sooooooo... ya wanna know how WE handled explaining modesty?

Well, I started out telling her that being modest is the opposite of bragging. Of course - then she said "what's bragging Nana?" -- THAT was when we realized HOW hard this was going to be! So Krysti said we should first teach what bragging IS - so that we could talk about what it's NOT! So it went sort of like this:

Amanda: Bragging is saying "I scored a goal at my game today! I scored a GOAL! I'm the BEST player on the TEAM!"

Luz: So, I shouldn't tell if I score a goal?

Nana: It's okay to SAY you scored a goal. If you just tell it as a fact, and don't make a big deal and claim to be the BEST PLAYER ON THE TEAM just because you scored a goal.

Luz looked puzzled.

Nana: Luz, it's okay to say it. You scored a goal and your proud of yourself. But if you say it like Mommy said it - that's bragging. If you just tell it and don't make a big deal - that's okay. Just say "I scored a goal today!" Then people will be very happy for you and say "That is GREAT Luz!!! Good job!!!" ... and you can be happy and smile BIG because you did something good! It's okay to do that and to be proud of yourself for it. But MODEST is if YOU don't say it at all. If you just wait until Mommy says "Luz scored a goal at her game today!" ... and then everyone will still say "Oh Luz! That's GREAT! Good job!" and you get all the glory!

Luz: Nana? What's the glory?

LOL!

Nana: The "glory" is when you are told you did a good job!

Luz: But what game?

ROFL!!!

Amanda: The pretend game that we just made up! The one where you scored the goal!

Luz: But I didn't score a goal...

LOL!

Ohhhhhh trying to explain abstract ideas to a 4 year old is just soooooooo much fun! We THINK she did understand in the end. But Barbara H. is definitely right -- the subject WILL come up again -- and eventually it will come up about physical behavior too! But for right now, we think we got the questioned answered okay.

Another fun one is always time. Not like in the hours on a clock -- but conceptual time. Yesterday, today and tomorrow are fairly easy.... but "in a little while" or "later" or "someday" or "ago"... I don't really remember MY kids EVER asking about these words! They just sort of "got it" over a period of time. But Luz is a word freak - and she asks! Boy, if she doesn't understand EXACTLY what you're saying the first time, she asks! And it has lead to some very interesting conversations!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Other STUFF!
Okay... I know some of you have noticed I've been a little distracted this week. It amazes me how WELL some of you know me! I was trying my best to keep blogging even when I really didn't feel like it -- but a few of you caught me anyway! Well... we've had some extended family stuff going on, and I have really had to give IT my attention, and in fact, I thought it was going to take me AWAY from you all - for quite awhile. But instead my eldest stepped up, and she is going in my place! And I don't know WHY we didn't think of it in the beginning - because it truly IS the perfect solution! But anyway -- without details - that was what was going on. And I know several of you missed me makin' the rounds to the blogs... I really DO apologize for that... but you know - there are just times when family - even extended family - comes WAY first!
In addition to that I have not gotten ANY more painting done -- I was working on projects if you recall - I finished one, and then life got crazy and I haven't finished the other one yet. Hopefully in the next day or two.
As for my friend, John -- he is still in a coma. They did do some tests this week and have determined that he has NO brain damage! With that said, I really REALLY believe that he WILL wake up! I think we just have to pray and understand that everything happens in God's time and not our own. And just because we don't understand WHY He needs John in a coma right now, doesn't mean He doesn't have a reason.... I know... lots of people think I'm nuts! I'm just tellin' ya what I believe! The doctors have said they will re-evaluate his condition at the end of the week.
And my BIG news??? I'm goin' on a TRIP! Ohhhhhh don't you just wanna KNOW where I am going? I am SO excited!!! Oh it's a BIG exciting trip!!! Well, it's big and exciting to me! I am going to WISCONSIN!!! I'm going to Neenah, Wisconsin!!! Aren't you excited? I know you want to come along with me! And you will! But we don't leave until April 20th! (that seems like such a looooong way away... especially since I've been planning this since OCTOBER!) I've just been bustin' to TELL though, and then JUST when I was getting ready to tell, it started lookin' like I was going to have to postpone it and go to Texas first! But like I said -- Amanda is going to Texas -- so now I'm back on for Wisconsin! Can you guess WHY I'm going to Wisconsin? Can you guess WHAT IN THE WORLD could possibly be important enough to me in Neenah, Wisconsin to convince me to drive 1000 miles to get there!? Well... I will tell you! It is the Wizard of Words himself! The Feeder of the Dragons. The Keeper of the Fortress! It is Dr. John HIMSELF! And his beautiful wife Betty!!! Yes indeed! I am going on an adventure! I am grabbing Mom and my suitcase, and we are heading into the land of Canasta and Saffron Buns! And if I'm very VERRRRRRRY blessed, I'll even get to spend a day in Pigeon Falls!!! Now.... do tell! What could POSSIBLY be more exciting than THAT!? I can't wait!!!
OH! And one LAST little bit of info! Our dear Ella - that little scamp! - has arrived in LAS VEGAS, BABY! She is staying with Kathy - a sweetheart of a gal, with a very interesting past (and probably present!) ... she used to be an elephant trainer/performer IN Vegas... and thus the reason why she wanted sO badly to host Ella! She also owns a MANY pound tortoise who Ella has become fast friends with... and ... above all... she NEVER had a blog before. She created one JUST for Ella -- so pleeeeeeease run over and visit her and check out the fun she is having with Ella! I think this may be a really good trip for Ella!
Ruby Tuesday... and Monday Stuff!
Ruby Tuesdayis hosted by Mary, The Teach
*snif* Mmmmmm....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Today was a great day! I tried all day long to get my Bible study done for my class tonight... first Krysti wanted my attention... Then Derek wanted my attention... And then MATHEW came by! Well, of course I stopped and gave him my attention too! I don't get to see that boy nearly often enough anymore! He got a new job - back in furniture sales - very HIGH END furniture! Oh my! I can't afford to even LOOK in his store! LOL! But he is verrrrry happy. He really does LOVE furniture sales -- and he's GOOD at it! So I'm thrilled! We were both so sad when his other store closed down.... but now life is picking up! He's on his way back UP the mountain! *smile*

By the time he left, I needed to go out and pick up treats for Cordelle's birthday - we were celebrating at study tonight and I was in charge of food! (which is better for me than being in charge of writing the prayer!) But sometimes I wonder about that! Anyway, when I got home, Dennis and I were both pulling into the driveway at the same time. We exchanged our days and then he took Mom and let me get my study done! So I had time with 3 of my kids today and finally got my study done despite them! And then -- our study was INTENSE tonight! Oh man! It was soooooooo good! We're in the Ruth part of Ruth & Esther -- and it is such a wee little book - only 4 chapters ... but there is so much to learn there! I have to laugh because none of the men voted to study these WOMEN of The Bible -- but because there are more women in our study we out-voted them! But they are enjoying it! We are having some LIVELY conversation and it is very good! Guys! Don't disregard the women in The Bible!

Ruby Tuesday... and Stuff...

Monday was just a bizzy fun day! I got up and TRIED to get some blogging donein the morning ... but Mom and Krysti were having NONE of it! Krysti wanted me to start painting. I really didn't want to because I knew Luz & Amanda were coming... but she just stood over my shoulder and wasn't going to let me blog... so I figured I might as well paint! Of course when Luz got here, she wanted to paint too! So we got out some crafts and she painted a bit. I had given her her Valentines when she first got here -- and included a gift card to Walmart. She LOVES a gift card more than anything! So we went to Walmart and she got to shop! She was so CUTE - and really a GOOD shopper. She would pick things and put them in her cart - and then when she found something else, she would make a decision between things... what to keep and what to put back. She had $20 on her gift card and she finally ended up choosing a play telephone, a bell for her bicycle, and a plain $6 Barbie -- in just a bathing suit! I thought they were excellent choices. I was amazed at some of the things she put back though! But I'll tell ya -- she really WANTED that bell for her bike! If it had cost $20 all by itself, that's what she would have chosen!!! When we came back, she really really wanted to help us paint, so I gave her a brush and some magic clear paint (water) and she painted with us! Krysti and I had been working on a special project for the living room! That's what Luz was helping with! (not the walls) When Dennis got home, he put up the new blinds in the family room. THEY look really nice! I'm sO happy with them! We can't hang things in the living room yet - I'm not sure where the furniture is going to end up... so we have to wait a bit! Still might make some changes to the foyer too... not entirely decided yet.

Mom has another dentist appointment this morning -- this time to replace a filling. Krysti is leaving this morning to go back to school -- BUT... she'll be back again next weekend! LOL! Her car needs brakes, so Dennis is going to arrange to have it done next weekend. They'll be okay until then.

I'm trying to get around as much as time allows to visit you all... I'm sorry I don't make it every day. Eventually life will get back to normal -- but not for awhile yet! LOL!

Ruby Tuesday ... and Stuff... In Which The Painting Begins...

First Things First!
Our Darling ELLA has arrived in Pennsylvania --
where she promptly got herself into
a bit of hot water.
(and I almost missed it... DO go visit!)

Thus... it has begun.

On Sunday my plan was to get up Monday morning, have a cup o' coffee, and get to work painting! That was my plan. Until I remembered Mom had her first cleaning at the dentist's at 12:15 Monday. Just right smack dab in the middle of the day! WHAT was I thinkin'? I wasn't thinking. So I put off starting until we got home from the dentist - not wanting to get "just a bit" done, and then have to clean up, and then get it all back out again in the afternoon. Which is exactly what happened when I did start in the afternoon! I got "just a bit" done before I had to clean up to make dinner and head off to Bible study! So here we go! Right from day one I'm behind schedule! ROFL!!! All I'm doing at this point is priming the navy blue walls. I can not turn them to a very light sandy tan without priming them first! Soooooooo... once that's done - on Tuesday, then I will be able to start with the actual PAINT!

You know the really really GOOD thing about having Alzheimer's disease? You get to go to the dentist and be tortured for a full hour but THINK it was only about 15 minutes, and then forget it forever within an hour! That is ALMOST a natural anesthesia! A year ago she would remember really traumatic events for up to 4 hours after they happened.... but apparently that is no longer the case. I had Dennis ask her when he got home how her appointment was. She looked at him like his head fell off and said "I didn't have no dentist appointment today!" ... and she turns to me... "did I?" LOL! I said she did. She looked back at Dennis and said "well... it musta gone alright cuz he didn't tell me I gotta come back or nothin'." I laughed. I said "Nope! You sure don't! Not until next Tuesday!" Then she said ... "well how come he didn't tell ME that? Why'd he only tell YOU?" With that I just shook my head... "I dunno Mom... maybe he knows I keep track of the appointments..." OY!
