It's A Great Day!
And it's a great day to be alive
I know the sun's still shinin' when I close my eyes
There's some hard times in the neighborhood
But why can't every day be just this good?

It IS a great day to be alive! Aren't they all? And there is, of course, some hard times in the neighborhood... Virginia Tech is weighing heavy on all of our hearts, and we certainly are saying prayers for those poor families involved. And we say prayers for our Nation as a whole - and indeed for our world! Prayers that this madness will end and that we will all learn to live in peace...
... and then we go on. And we live our lives. God actually expects us to DO that! If you weren't personally involved in this tragedy, He would like you to know that it is okay to go ahead and HAVE a great day! As a matter of fact, He's serving this one up -- just for you! Enjoy it!
He served me up a GREAT day yesterday! I started it off with a very short talk with Him before I even got out of bed! His message got through though - just like *snap* that! I proceeded to get up and I was opening Curves so I got ready and hit the road! I had the best time at Curves yesterday that I have had ... maybe ever! We just had SO much fun! And I ended up working out for almost my entire shift! Why? Because after I had done MY workout, a couple of people (one at a time) came in that wanted or needed me to pace them - to keep their heart rate up. I have NO problem with this! This is the part I LOVE about working at Curves! I don't feel like I'm there to "entertain" you through your workout... which is what my boss wants us to do... I'm not a stand up comic! I feel like I'm there to encourage. To help our members get the most for their money. To help people who are having ho-hum workouts turn them into WOW workouts! THAT is the Melli way of working at Curves! And yesterday provided me with SO much of that! And not just those two people -- but just the whole scenario yesterday - the conversations - the energy - it was just all GOOD! I left there feeling totally energized! And then... I had made arrangements to have lunch with one of the members that I've become pretty good friends with! We met at 3:00 for a late lunch and spent two hours really enjoying each other's company and getting to know each other on a different level!
See??? It was a great day! I'm going to have another one today! And while I'm having it, I'm going to keep those VT families in my heart and in my mind and ask the Lord to heal their hearts and help them get through their hard times. And I'm asking that He give the rest of you a GREAT day!

Great reminder, Melli! So often, in the face of national tragedies, I find people kind of paralyzed. It seems to me that to continue to LIVE, though, is such a smack in the face of the evil that caused this trajedy. I certainly AM praying for those impacted by VT on a personal level. And I'm praying that they have people to hold them and love on them while they endure such pain.
May we all have a GREAT day today! I think it'd make God smile and it just might make that old devil think twice about trying to steal our joy!
Hugs!!
:-) Susan

Melli -- life is to be lived. I am looking for a great day -- and I am praying with you that God brings comfort and healing to the hearts of everyone touched by the VT horror - -which would include you and I. Add an additional prayer if you would -- that he also brings peace to the heart of anyone else contemplating mass murder.

You seem to be up in spirits --which is good. I'm working on getting there with you!!!
I'm one who doesn't dwell on tragedies. Yes, tho they are tragedies....if anyone reads their history, things like this happen, tho sad and scary they are. Yep, we must keep on living our lives and go on.
Hugs to you. Hope you're going to enjoy your outing with the tea this fine Thursday.

Hey girlfriend...just got back from the Curves explosion. Miss Wilma was there so it was good to catch up with her and I also met another lady who has lost 109 pounds in the last year. She was also very up and encouraging.
I hate it when evil wins...wish they wouldn't show the shooters video. Our hearts and prayers are with the friends and families as they grieve and for the students that will be returning next week.

Don't you love warm, sunny, positive days? I believe that our days are what we make them...and I get angry at myself because I can't make them ALL good...but God wants us to be happy and have joy, you know?
It's great to read a long wordy post from you today...seems like you've been a hair quieter than usual lately (although I think I just got used to the double-posting while you were on the cyber cruise!!)

Melli, I so agree with Susan. The devil wants to "steal our joy"...Never do we want him to do that!! Never!! He works hard all of the time trying to that to us and we should NEVER let him. You are on the track that God wants us to be on. Here in my part of the world things seem to be going to the word CANCER!! it is everywhere. Just found out that two more people that I know well have it!! I cannot believe this. It is touching me on all sides. I cannot let it get me down wondering where it will come from next. Stealing our JOY!! Right? SAndy

Melli,
Loved what you had to say today and loved it that you put it that God served us up this day just for us. Maybe we can think that way everyday.

Hello! Thank you for visiting my blog and for your prayers for my son at Virginia Tech. He is doing a little better everyday but will take time to heal from all this.
I'll have to visit your blog and read some of your posts soon!
