Mixed Blessings???
Krysti leaves for college in less than 36 hours. On Friday, Krysti's car broke down. About 6 hours ago we got the news that she has a cracked engine block! It would cost us about $3,000 to fix it. And they probably could NOT get it done in 36 hours. And the car itself is not worth that much... *sigh*Soooooooo... about 5 hours ago Krysti and I went car shopping. The first lot had NOTHING for under $12,000. UGH! The 2nd lot had nothing under 20K... We only HAVE 3 lots in the county! Lucky for us, the 3rd lot had 2 to choose from. Both in th 7K range... (still more than we've got!) Luckily we have great credit! Here's what she will be driving to school....
It's a 2002 Buick LeSabre ... and it's clean!
Fully loaded... leather interior...even fanny warmers...
Way better than what I drive... *sigh*
Soooooo... of course we're thankful that if the car was going to break down, it did it BEFORE she got to New York... cuz had it happened say 72 hours from now, that really woulda stunk! This stunk too... but only about 1/2 as much!

Oh my goodness...yes, I'm glad it broke at home. And I'm glad you were able to find a replacement.
Praying for Krysti and you as you prepare to transition here.

I'm glad it was only half a bummer. You must be glad she has a nice set of wheels for school, she must be happy too.
Keep me in mind if Krysti needs anything while she's in NY. I may not buy her a car, but I will certainly give her a lift.

At least she will be safe this way and you will not have to worry about her safety as far as the car goes!! I can understand the expense. When our youngest had to drive from illinois to Missouri we worried a lot about her. one time when she came home to visit us in the winter her little car made it just outside of our small town. Then we had no cell phones and she walked the rest of the way in the snow and the really cold weather. WOW!! Then we had to come up with a way to get her back. We were always thinking of ways to get her back and forth...but we made it...smiling over those memories...Blessings, sandy

Tell Krysti , I love her car.Hope she doesn't have a heavy foot like me.This Buick will fly....My husband said a block on a car that is gone is not worth fixing it.Now you can relax that this car will do great on the highway... Have a good day.I need to go get my hair cut. Love ya, Baba

Sorry! Kelly's broke down outside of Tulsa, the right people came along and helped her out!! She was able to come home and we had the car brought home.
She then rode with a girl from Overland Park KS the rest of the time at college. Like every one said it is better to break down close to home then far away on the interstate!
But having to spend the money when you have more then one in college, Yikes!!

At least now you won't have to worry about her traveling. And, maybe she'll be able to come home more often. Nice car!!

I hate to see her leave! I am that old fashioned and so happy my boy is at home like in the old Spanish tradition :)
You are such a positive person!
it's a nice car, it can take her home more often :)

Good the care broke at home then. What a great new one you got and what a bargain - in Norway that car would have cost almost 10 times more in Norway!

Melli, Melli, Melli...you never learn. You keep the newer car and give her your bucket of bolts :)
Safe journeys *hugs*
