Heavy METAL Musician~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I could not get it together to do a Wordzzle this week... I'm sure you are all broken-hearted over that -- my sincerest apologies. I will be around to read all the wonderful Wordzzles that WERE produced this week though! Gotta catch up on the series especially!
Soooooo ... How many of you did "Black Friday" yesterday? I do NOT do Black Friday! Dennis and I had the day to ourselves yesterday - because Vada had Mom for the day. So we were talking in the morning trying to decide what to do. We decided we would go out for lunch and I said "Oh! We should take your truck and stop at Walmart -- I could get Luz's car today." Dennis looked at me... oh that look... and he said "Honey... I will DO this if it's really what you want ... but do you REALLY want to go to Walmart ON BLACK FRIDAY???" ROFL!!! I had forgotten it was Black Friday! NO WAY! We had a very nice lunch at Green Turtle though!
Last night we watched a movie called The Conscientious Objector. (can be rented from NetFlix) It is a documentary about a WWII war HERO - Desmond T. Doss - who never once even HELD a gun - or any other weapon! I had never heard of the term "conscientious objector" before -- but from watching the movie I now understand that a person who's spiritual beliefs rule that they not "kill" or carry a weapon could get special dispensation -- they were often sent to a special "camp" to serve their time. But Desmond T. Doss wanted no parts of that "camp" and he insisted on being allowed to serve on the FRONT LINES without the aid of a weapon. It's an absolutely incredible story! It is not a "religious" movie -- but it is the story of a soldier who's faith lead him to do some incredible things! In the end he received the Congressional Medal of Honor!!! Dennis and I both enjoyed it immensely! I highly recommend it!

I didn't do a photo hunt today -- didn't have anything in my archives and couldn't think of anything in particular...til just now! But it's too wet outside to go get a picture of it. And by mid-morning it's almost too late to do the photo hunt anyway.
We were going to go get our tree today. We don't usually this early -- I like to savor a little bit of Thanksgiving season before turning to Christmas. But with older kids with jobs, we figured it would be best to do it while we're all off. But it's raining out, so we'll have to see if it clears up enough later on.
I am NOT a black Friday shopper. I just can't deal with the crowds and crowdedness. And I don't venture out that early for much of anything. I did go to Michael's in the afternoon for one sale, but the whole display wall of what I was looking for was empty. Even then there were no empty shopping carts, lines were long, aisles were crowded -- I think I left within 5-10 minutes. I prefer to shop weekday mornings -- or online.
I haven't seen that movie -- sounds interesting!

This movie reminds me of one I saw years ago. It starred Gary Cooper as a Quaker, drafted as an objector.
Sergeant York was the name of the movie. Very much like the one you wrote about. I think you would enjoy it, too.
Love your reason to not blog Friday!!

This is a great sculpture! I love it. I want it in my yard!
I HAD to go shopping on Black Friday. The Doctor prescribed it. Honest.
I woke yesterday with a swollen eye. NOT the skin around my eye, the eye itself was swollen. Needless to say, I called the Doc! She said, "Come now." So I did.
Turns out (after I snatched OC away from work to come with me because I was scared) that it is allergies. Doc prescribed simple over-the-counter meds and sent me off to the drug store to get them. OC insisted on being released from that duty. I spent over an hour standing in line to buy $40.00 worth of medicine -- behind people buying everything NOT medicinal. Why do drug stores have to be department stores, too?

Hi Meli,
I think you did a fantastic job. It's metal and a sculpture titled heavy metal player. I love it.
Everyone is posting the most lovely pictures. Oh dear I was silly with mine.

We went to my son's and celebrate Thanksgiving. No fights. No shopping. Just the family together. The Conscientious Objector sounds like a great movie. Faith can cause you to do great things.
Glad that Dennis enjoyed it with you.

I don't know the movie but I knew a lot of "conscientious objectors"especially young germans who didn't want to follow the footsteps of their fathers and create the same disaster. They had to do 2 years of service in Hospitals or retirement homes instead of one year military service. In Belgium and Italy there were a lot of them too.
I am back in the cold and arrived yesterday night at 3 am ! Feel a little upside down !
