Fall Festival
Yesterday we had our Fall Festival at church following the late service. Amanda & Luz came up for it! Her "real" Halloween costume (remember? she wants to be HORSE) isn't done yet, so they were just picking something out of her dress up box. This is what she came as!
A little cowgirl! LOL!The pink umbrella is her HORSE!
We were almost finished eating when Pastor & Kathy came
and joined us at our picnic table. Luz had NO interest in
eating and was anxious to get to the candy and games.
But HERE she and Pastor were in a DEEP discussion aboutDavid and Goliath! Pastor kept trying to pass the telling of
the story off onto me -- but then he had to keep correcting
me - because I forgot lots of bits! But the funniest part was
when Luz asked "what did David do with the other 4 stones?"
And I said ... He took them home for souvenirs! And Pastor
almost fell off the bench! I guess there were some brothers
to Goliath that David threatened to get too.... I dunno. I don't
remember that part! ;)
This was a game of following directions. You could walk orrun... or if you were only 5 you might have to JUMP from one
ring to another! This was a FLYING leap (of faith) -- she
made it!
The little pumpkin behind her was playing the bean bag toss.
He was cute as a button!
One of my friends was giving away caramel apples -- but we spent too much time eating and they were ALL GONE when we got there. I was sooooo sad... even though I can't eat them anymore! I just really wanted Luz to have one! She and her mommy are going to make some though.
Amanda had a lot of homework to get done, so they didn't come back to the house -- which was actually fine with me, because I wanted to come home and do battle with the outdoor fleas! I bought 2 bottles of stuff -- you just attach it to your hose and it automatically mixes while you spray -- always amazes me HOW they do that! But it works. I sprayed the entire perimeter of the house and some of the lawn as well. I made sure I sprayed Jewl's favorite places! And it only took ONE bottle! Then I just had to keep her in the house for as much of the day as possible so she wouldn't get IN to any of her favorite places before it dried! Yea... it all makes sO much sense... So... I'm going to save this other bottle until NEXT October -- and then I'm spraying outside EARLY!!! Indeed I am!
Oh my gOOdness! It's the 26th! Jientje arrives in TWO days!!!!
I am soooooooo excited!!!

I didn't even know he had other stones to tell ya the truth. At least I learned something. I love Luz's costume. She is so adorable. You and those fleas...ya better make sure that the bottle of poison doesn't expire by next October...but there again it would be a hoot to read your post and say "but I sprayed...I just don't know what happened" ROFLMAO...OMG that means Jientje is going to be here on the 5th and I have to make a mad dash to the mainland this week as well :) Where does time go when you're having fun :)

What a cute Cowgirl and so much fun ! she looks like Superman while flying, lol ! I don't remember well the David and Goliath story either.
After the war you lead against fleas, I am sure Jientje won't be able to smuggle a single one into Belgium when she comes back !

So THAT'S what Trunk or Treat means. We saw that on a sign somewhere and wondered.
I'm amazed that Luz wondered about the other four stones of David. She apparently has an eye (ear?) for detail. In all the times I have ever told or heard that story, that has never come up! Maybe he did keep them -- maybe he tossed them back into the creek. I like the thought that maybe he kept them for Goliath's relatives!
What a cute little cowgirl! That sounds like a fun event.
I'm looking forward to stories and photos from Jientje's visit!

I bet you D & G story was much more entertaining.
I didn't know there was stuff you could spray outside for fleas. I need to look for that.

I am excited for Jientje to get to your house -- but I so wish she was going to you last, because the rest of us are going to have a tough act to follow!
Luz is an adorable cowgirl -- but she's just adorable, period!

Melli,
I'll bet you tell the very best Bible stories. You crack me up and apparently your pastor as well.
btw-David won and Goliath went down is how I remember it.
Luz lives her name. She is the light of the world. I know it is Luz Estrella...but Starlight is not quite so good....good though.

Great jumping pic!
Are you going to play along with me on Wednesday? Take pics from inside your house looking out (I didn't wash my windows, so you don't have to wash yours, LOL).
