Friday's Fave Five - Just Thankful...

Susanne at Living to Tell the Story hosts Friday Fave Five in which we share our five favorite things from the past week. Thank you Susanne for hosting this inspirational sharing game!

This was a relatively boring week -- I haven't gone anywhere or done anything out of the ordinary, so I'm just thinking about some things that I'm particularly thankful for this week...

1. Hands that work, and feet that don't hurt. This hasn't always been true. I have problems with my hands - carpal tunnel - they go numb a lot. But as I lose weight this problem goes away - so maybe it's not REALLY carpal tunnel! And there was a time when my feet hurt so bad that I really didn't want to get up and walk on them -- but that has been a few years ago. I haven't forgotten it though - and I'm just thankful my hands and feet keep going! I can't "power walk" or really walk for exercise at all... I can stroll... but I'm going to do a 5k walk anyway - just for the fun of it!

2. We are still having some verrrrrrry chilly mornings here, but afternoons have actually been warm enough for just a t-shirt ... and maybe even shorts! None-the-less, the cool mornings have made me appreciate those first few sips of coffee in the morning. That warm satisfaction that those first sips bring! I love it!

3. Laughter. Honestly... my kids are some of the funniest people on the planet and I just absolutely love how HARD they make me laugh sometimes! There is nothing better than a sore stomach from laughing! And it's wOnderful with friends... but it's even better with your own kids!

4. Peppermint Patties. This weeks "little treat" to myself. Just one. One little one. 50 calories. Straight out of the freezer to just slowwwly melt in my mouth. Mmmmm....

5. That spring is here! The birds are siiiiiinging! Have you noticed that they don't sing in winter? I had NOT noticed until they started singing this week. They are soooooo bloomin' happy with the sun and the warm and the green that it makes their little hearts SING! And mine too! What a beautiful world we live in! I love it!

I had 2 tablespoons of ice cream -- and it was enough! Isn't that amazing?!

I need someone to belly-laugh with. Tonight at Bible Study was a 3 hanky session. We need some good times!

I love that moving ticker! You are very inspiring -- you know that, don't you, Melli?

Every day this week, my 14yo has come home from school and announced that this is his favorite weather! :)

Congrats on more weight loss! And I am glad it is helping your hands. I am hoping losing weight will help with problems I have been having with my knees -- if I ever get started losing.

We're still having chilly mornings, too, but not so cold that it goes straight though to my bones before I get out to the car. It's been just gorgeous in the afternoons.

I love laughing with my kids, too.

Oh I know, aren't you just loving the spring weather? This is so great!

I second your happiness about hands that work and feet that don't hurt. Ir is so good to be healthy.

We have been loving the warm weather, too. We bought some flowers to be planted and got a great deal on them. Our forecast for this weekend is SNOW. Maybe this will be the last of it. I never thought I'd say that about Texas.

Here too it's warmer 60 F and the birds are singing much to the pleasure of Arthur ! You and your shorts, lol ! you would be soooo unhappy here because nobody wears shorts outside the house or the garden except children, but no adults, they wouldn't let you in a shop or restaurant with shorts ! It's different at the sea of course. I know in the States you do, and I even once went shopping in Madison with curlers on my head, just to know how it feels like ! Unthinkable in Europe !

People that make us laugh are the best and it is doubly wonderful when it's our family.

I love to laugh! And especially with my kids!

I love those sips of something warm on cold mornings, too, but my drink of choice is hot tea.

You are right, we definitely should be thankful for hands and feet that work!

Hi Melli, I wish you were at my house.. it is 76 and you would be running around in your shorts and tee's.. I did not find an Easter hat today..I needed some make-up and had a lady match my skin with a different make-up that I brought. The name of it is Purminerals. I like the way it covers my ugly face!!!

You are being a good girl and losing your weight very well...one Peppermint Pattie sounds like a well deserved treat.

Your blog background looks springy too...enjoy your week-end.
love ya, Baba

I love to hear birds sing and look forward to the days when it's warmer and they start their songs. I don't mind waking up at anytime to that.

I am so going to try your frozen peppermint patty trick. I love them and if that will satisfy a sweet craving it would be a bonus!

Sore feet are awful. So glad yours don't hurt anymore. I have some carpal tunnel too. Did you know diabetes can have something to do with them too? Strange thing that carpal tunnel.

I Love hearing the birds in the spring, there is something relaxing and hopeful about listening to the birds sing in the early morning. :)
Oh and I just bought 2 peppermint patties at the grocery store......Mmmmmmm :)
Laughter is always a good things, especially when it is with family!! :)
Hey and GOOD FOR YOU for doing the 5k walk! :)

Warm enough to be in shorts and a T shirt? NOW you made me jealous!

By Blogger Jientje, at 3/21/2010 8:41 AM

Happy Spring, Melli! I hope you're not getting the snow that my friend in AR is! It's just adding insult to injury.

Oooo! Peppermint patties. Yes, I love them because they give so much flavor for their size and calorie count.

Have a happy week!
