Friday Fill - Ins ... a Flashback...

... #95!

1. Right now, I'm feeling exhausted!

2. In a steaming hot whirl pool is where I want to be.

3. How does one balance a stack of basketballs on their elbow?

4. Quiet time with God keeps me on track.

5. Please don't follow me around and watch me work!

6. My family fills me with joy. And so do chocolate donuts.
Chocolate donuts = Joy... if you eat enough of them you get FULL!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to working on my wordzzle, tomorrow my plans include cooking chili and getting even closer to "done" and Sunday, I want to siiiiiiing at church and work/attend the Fall Festival after service!

A Friday Flashback!
(not to be confused with a hot flash!)

I was catching up over at Twila's blog this morning and reading a post she had about a Pity Party she was throwing! I'm always up for a good Pity Party so I invited myself and joined in! Apparently Twila "booked" one of those "in home sales parties" that we have all grown to hate! YOU know the kind I'm talkin' about! Well... in my efforts to "comfort" poor Twila, I reminded myself that I (yes, I...) at one time became a Tupperware Lady!!! Oh people! This was sUch a bad idea! I lasted at this job for approximately 4 months. That was long enough to have attended 16 "pep rallies" and waaaaaaaaay past long enough to learn that the MARK-UP on these products is beyond astronomical !!! WAY beyond! Sooooooo beyond that I literally COULD NOT in good conscience sell the product! When I found out that a bowl that was being purchased by YOU for $28 was only costing ME $14 ... and only costing my manager $5 and only costing the district supervisor $2.80... it became pretty clear that Rubbermaid off the shelf at the grocery store was a MUCH BETTER DEAL!!! How could I possibly walk into a room full of women ... oh but wait -- MOST of the "in home shows" did not hold a room FULL of women... and that was dear Twila's problem... MOST of the "parties" had 2 or 3 guests -- one would be a mother or mother in law to the hostess, one might be a sister or cousin, and usually a best best best friend who could then be counted on to book a show in her own home that the current hostess would then be obligated to attend ... and back and forth they would go! I'll tell ya something... whoever dreamed up this scheme was a genius! But the really SMART ones are the people who "just say no!" It's the same with candles, home decorations, cosmetics... whatever! If it's a home party show, the best idea is to Just Say No!!!

(oh... I'm so sorry if YOU are a whatever dealer....
I'm sure YOUR stuff really is better than off the shelf!)

I figure if it is so expensive that I can't deal with it's demise by a dogs chewing it up then I shouldn't buy it.

TGIF!

Here's my fill-ins. Thanks.

I tired Avon for six months and a craft-based home party system for a few. I discovered I am NO salesperson. I felt so bad listening to all the tactics we were supposed to use. I hated being sold to (or manipulated) like that, so I couldn't do it to anyone else. And no matter how much they say, "Work your own hours, just do part-time if you want," there is always a manager pushing you to sell more. Augh!!

I do lie attending home decorating parties, though -- if they're not too pushy. I have gotten some neat things there at better prices than many stores and things I wouldn't have found in stores.

Move over....I could use a little time in a hot tub too!

I was a Southern Living at Home consultant for about a year. You are right about the mark-up!!!! Plus, all that stuff is heavy to haul around. And, years and years ago I did the Avon thing to a Spanish speaking neighborhood and I didn't speak Spanish. That was interesting!!!

Have a good weekend and get some rest!!

I could never do that because I felt like it obligated people to buy things even it they didn't want to. Check out my late T13! Miss you.

So do/did other hostesses feel bad that the "Dealer" would show up - give up her time with her family and no one show up.....so they decided to buy $200 worth of product for themselves?

That is me that is what I do! Oh yeah and do not forget the girl at work that says if you order this $75 worth of things for me I will pay you next friday - and here it is FRIDAY and guess who got laid off before I got to work this morning? OH YEAH so I now have $275 invested in the party to get drum roll please $100 worth of free jewelry.

Invite me to yours and I will order what I want - but do not expect me to book a show. Now my daughter she will book have $2000 in sales - 15 people show up and spend $45 out of pocket to get $500 worth of items. (I am so jealous)!

That is sooooooooo true!
I remember a couple of years ago, I had to attend so many parties it costed a fortune! I have so much of that stuff, it's unbelievable! I think it IS so much wiser to just say no, you're so right!

first, thanks for stopping by. second, you are so right about number four. a day without one is always a bad one. without Him, I am nothing.

God bless you more, sister in Christ! I love meeting new people through this meme.

A whirlpool is okay if you can step down into it but I prefer my bathtub with a door and a seat and lots and lots of jets.
But it is so much fun watching you crawl around painting along the floor .Can't we at least follow you around a little bit.
I'm glad my wife never said yes to hosting one of those parties.

How did you come up with #3? LOL Have a great weekend.

I am one of those who can't stand those home sale parties! Ugh...much rather just tell you if I want it and buy it than go sit and listen to the droning. I held a few in my first few years of being married...then I learned how to say NO! ;)

I wouldn't mind being full of chocolate donuts! ;)
Have a good weekend.
