Alphabet Challenge... and stuff!

Week 6 -- K & L

I thought K was really going to be a difficult letter for this week... but then, I was sitting on the throne contemplating Queenly things when it suddenly hit me! A K! So I ran and got my camera and ...

Ta Daaa! My first K!
This beautiful lady lives in the main upstairs
bathroom!

But then I was going through my archives looking for something else, when I came across this... I think I've published this picture before... but not for an ALPHABET challenge, for sure!
He is a MONSTER of a horse that sits
outside PF Chang's China Bistro
So... there we have a 2nd K!
How cool!
(wasn't even sure I'd find ONE - but I got 2!)

THEN there was the case of "L"... L was the totally opposite problem of course. Ls are SO abundant that they are probably the most boring letter of the entire alphabet! Take any corner, any right angle, any wall, window, frame, flag, birdhouse, almost any piece of furniture, any tree, any sign, any waaaaaay too many Ls! They are EVERYwhere! So I wanted something "different". Don't we all? Of course we do! I can't WAIT to see what you guys came up with! I know there will be fabulous stuff! But once again, I haven't been too far this week... so I had to look around the house! I found a couple that made me happy though...

I think my mermaids tail makes
a lovely L ...
just a bit of frill...

And then...

One of my little crabbies has a perfect
L of an arm! You better think so or
he MIGHT pinch you!

*morning update*
My sincerest APOLOGIES!
I forgot to add the play list...
Here it is...

Do ya ever get one of those days where you have absolute intentions of getting xxx done today? But ya gotta do yyy first to get ready to xxx? And then yyy turns into something BIG and xxx goes down the drain? Well... that was my day today!

I was finally going to paint the hallway! I've got it all figured out, and it's gonna be fine! We have this little den off our bedroom, and the little den has a balcony that looks down over the steps. (why? I dunno... just the way the house was built...) Once upon a time I had high hopes for that little den, but then Dennis took it as his "bill room", and then it got cluttered up with stuff... and then kids moved back in and then we needed MORE storage space... and then the "bill room" turned into a nightmare greater than your WORST garage! Which is part of OUR problem anyway - because OUR garage does not "catch all"... our garage is a wood shop! It DOES catch motorcycles and lawn tractors, but NOT cars or "stuff". Therefore, the rest of the house has had to make up for what the garage doesn't catch! Mind you, I do not begrudge Dennis his wood shop! It has served us well throughout the years - he has made MANY projects for my benefit! I'm just pointing out that most people DO use their garage for "stuff" - and we don't which is why my house is SO cluttered!!! Sooooooo anyway... TODAY I went upstairs with the intention of clearing "the space" right in front of the balcony so that I would be able to get to it to reach out into the hall from the top half to paint.... okay? I truly apologize that I did NOT take before pictures, because while I would have been HORRIDLY embarrassed to share them... they also would have made fabulous before shots, so that you could know really how much work I did! But I will share a bit...

This is the empty space I created...
it's pretty small - but it's big enough
for me to do what I need to. I can
now cut in around the little balcony
and reach over it to paint.

And this...

... is how much STUFF came OUT of that
little space!!! Mind you... there are 2 mOre
big green trash bags behind the cabinet door!
Yes... 5 trash bags in all...

But... Dennis is sO excited I got that far, that he just got home from work and has gone up there to get some MORE trash out! Whooo hooo! THIS could be the start of something BIG!!!

Oooooh, Melli -- be careful leaning over that balcony!!!

It feels so good to clean "stuff" out, doesn't it?

Love your Ks -- I wouldn't have seen wither of them without help. You have a good eye. K has been the hardest for me, so far, but like you, I found Ls everywhere. Love you mermaid tail!

I would NOT have seen the K in the butterfly and maybe not in the horse. I LOVE the mermaid tail L - not that made me smile! Great finds.
I know how it feels to clean out 'spots'. For me it's still cleaning out and moving a box here or there from when we moved over a year ago. Glad Dennis is in the spirit of helping!

Great L picking they are a bit different. When something get really cluttered it is very hard to tackle that job. You did a great job.

Ditto. Please be careful leaning over the balcony.

I love your Ls and you Ks. Mine will be up at midnight. In the meantime, a little work ditty has been posted to cheer folk up.

It's a well known fact that the world has been changed by people on the thrown it's a very nice place for inspirations !
I saw the K on the horse immediately. Lately I saw Rosie forming an O with her tail and regretted not to have my camera around !
So much stuff out of this little space ?? that's amazing !

Melli...Great K & L's I personally think that this week's challenge letters were a bit too easy for you all. Oh sure Thom, you say that you ain't playing...sigh...LOL

When Rich and I first married and I moved into a house that had pretty much been a bachelor pad for nearly 20 years, he had 4 large storage sheds in the back yard. The back yard would have been classified a redneck heaven!! We now have 2 average-sized storage sheds that are neatly piled with "stuff" and are taken care of regularly... miracles DO happen!! Good luck with your cleaning out and "neating up".

I've been cleaning out old files and tons of household stuff - we've been trying to make room in the storage closet - it's daunting - you did great!!

I saw the L in the crab legs, I never would have imagined the rest

By Blogger Dianne, at 2/25/2009 3:13 PM

Woohoo!!! Clearing out stuff and decluttering and making space gives you so much energy don't you think? Although I think you must be exhausted, doing so much work!! Never mind xxx, YYY made it well worth it!! I love the letters you found this week, you were very inspired!!!

By Blogger Jientje, at 2/25/2009 5:13 PM

Just got home from Church.
Your two letters are as creative as anybody is going to get.
Our garage has my woodworking stuff, all my tools, odds and ends and room for the van. Of course when we are using the equipment the van has to move outside. But everything is on wheels so when we finish it all goes back to the side and we have a huge garage,
It is good to see somebody else throwing out multiple bags of garbage.

You are one creative person! I love the letters and your problem solving. Don't you love the cleaning out feeling? I do! And I always look at my pile that is being discarded and think, "Why the HECK was I saving all that stuff anyway?"

Hugs,

Susan
