Ruby Tuesday -- Ugly Beauty .... and stuff...

Ruby Tuesday is hosted by Mary, The Teach

I think perhaps we've had just a wee little bit too much rain this year. I mean... if you've been paying attention, I actually HAVE been able to grow some vegetables! (how have my tomatoes NOT made it to a Ruby Tuesday???) But I did NOT plant these! They just grew. And they are BIG. And they are really quite ugly... but in an interesting kind of way. Well, to photograph ONCE anyway! I do feel like I need a few little toads to put on them .... haven't found any of them yet though! :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm supposing that I didn't mention yesterday that a trip back to the beach is a 3.5 hour trip each way. I will NOT be making that road trip! (not that i didn't consider it...) The week is just too busy for me to DO that! And now on top of the busyness that we have anyway... our downstairs airconditioning is broke. Mind you... I did say the DOWNstairs unit... which means that for 4 out of 5 of us sleeping is still a matter of comfort. Poor Krysti has her room in the basement though - and I'm sure when she gets up this morning I will hear how she is suffering! However, we are fortunate to have ceiling fans in the family room and the kitchen, and I brought my upright fan into the livingroom. We will survive until AC Man can get here tomorrow and order whatever needs to be ordered! I'm just hoping praying that it will be fixed before the party on Sunday!
I have a Drs. appointment for me this afternoon. To say that I am dreading this appointment is the understatement of all time! I was reminded when they would not refill my happy pill prescription that I have not SEEN the doctor in over 2 years. So yes, I'm due! But 2 years ago I was 65 pound DOWN, and now they're back UP... he's not going to be happy about that. As a matter of fact, he's probably going to tell me about it in a way that will sound like I wasn't already aware. But even THAT is not what I dread! What I dread is that THIS appointment today will lead to sO many more appointments! He will want to recheck my lungs. He will want a mammogram *yay!*. He will want every kind of blood test known to man. He MIGHT even bring up that it's been more than 5 years since my last colonoscopy... You see where this is going? The fun is just beginning! I want to be 16 again... just for an hour... while I'm in his office!
Oh...that is rather ugly looking but what a great addition to Ruby Tuesday. Maybe we'll see your rubilious tomatoes soon!!
They are a very interesting subject, almost alien-ish. A fungi, I presume? Best luck on your gardening. As you can tell, I'm not a gardener! My son does an impersonation of plants I 'care for' needing water...
Good luck with the doctor's appointments! I think I feel your pain, I try to stay away from them as much as I can too!
Leprechauns would also be nice, to put in your garden between those mushromms!
Unique rubies Melli - very clever!
Good luck at the Dr.s. I feel your pain. I was at mine just yesterday. My blood work instructions are on my kitchen table at the moment. And yes, more appointments just like you said - ugh.
And getting old just grand. Poor thing...boobies squeezed, butt inspected...what more could one want LOL. I feel for you. But My Darlin' just remember they are use to all of it...oh yeah, we are talking about you...Just grin and bear it ROFLMAO!
I have an idea. Why don't you hold off on those 6 items and go get 7 of something else and use those when you only have a party of 6? hmmm...you don't need to buy expensive things...kids love all kinds of stuff...
I feel for you and the AC. I hear that it is extremely hot back there...poor thing...I don't envy that...from sunshine to snow...all in a 12 month period :)
Interesting ruby finds ;--)
We don't get enough rain where I live to see things like this. Best wishes that this doctor's visit won't lead to lots more.
Hugs and blessings,
I guess I'm lucky I see the Doctors every six months. It's still scary. Great pictures. Those are big.
A partly air conditioned house is better than not air conditioned at all.
I tend to avoid the doctor as much as possible, but lately I am thinking is isn't possible.
How interesting a Ruby Mushroom
By Blogger Family Man, at 8/11/2009 8:30 PM
Mushrooms are kinda creepy to me, but they are interesting.
I need to go see my doc, too, and am dreading it for similar reasons. Last time I was there she told me what all we should be doing now that I am 50, but she didn't insist on it then. She might next time, though.
I am so glad for ceiling fans. Hope the AC guy gets things fixed pronto!
What magnificent mushrooms, they are a great Ruby Tuesday choice.
Thanks for visiting my RT...:)
Great shots. I photographed a mushroom like the second a couple weeks ago... I tried and tried to identify it but could not! Yes, ugly, but in a way pretty too!
TFS by my Ruby Tuesday post!
Pretty mushrooms are not edible...or so I think! love your shots, Melli, your garden seems to be an interesting place :)
Oh, doctors!! good luck, my friend. And with the AC too...
that's a problem we don't have ! broken ACs ! there are none and not necessary, lol ! Rain pumps that we would need. It's lovely here in England, architecture is beautiful and the people so friendly and the sea turquoise ! I am really happy here !
I think your mushroom pics are just gorgeous! I know what you mean about dreading going to the doctor...kind of like I feel about going back to my trainer. My partner lost 100 pounds and is looking so svelte and I...well, I'm the same! So frustrating. Here's hoping you find a few minutes to slip into 16 while you were there.
Hugs,
Susan
Doctors are no fun to go too and of course you have listed some things that he is probably going to be telling you about. You already know them so why does he need to tell you again.RIGHT!!
Thanks for stopping by. Hopefully things turned out good.
Wow! Not seen any of those before. You can bet I would not be eating them if I did.
Thanks for the visit to my site. Hope you get your fill of fairs this summer.
