Random Dozen #18
1. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being a cranky-baby-hissy-fitter, how much of a complainer are you? I don't think I'm much of a complainer. My family, I think, probably feels I am a bit more than I do ... because family would be the ones who would hear the bulk of my complaints. So I texted them to ask... Krysti said 4. Derek said 6. I expected the boys to say the higher numbers. But Mathew only rated me a 2!!! I think I'm probably about a 4. Amanda took hours and hours to think about it and contemplate things NONE of the rest of them ever would. This is the type of question that Amanda will just think and rethink and overthink and next week she will give me a revised answer! But today she said 5. Dennis also said 5 -- but first he wanted to clarify complaining "about what?"... and then if it was JUST complaining to HIM or complaining in general when he's not around!? ROFL!!! Of course I wouldn't give him ANY clarification except to repeat the question! So there you have it! The family has spoken! Now you are ALL welcome to tell me if you think I complain a lot or a little. Do I NEED a purple bracelet???
2. When someone else is talking, do you listen, or are you thinking about what you're going to say in response? How in the world would I know what I want to say in response if I don't listen first? Although... there are certain people that I share the ability to finish their sentences -- and they mine. Then our conversations go a bit faster! An observer might think we weren't listening to each other at all -- but we are!
3. I just deleted 1062 messages from my email account. Do you have any plans for a clean sweep this month--of anything? Today I'm doing a clean sweep of my Christmas decorations! (I answered these questions yesterday... the decorations are mostly gone now!)

4. Tell us about your perfume. Was it a gift? What does it remind you of? Do you have a signature scent? Most of the time I don't wear perfume at all. I use Shower to Shower body powder... but too many people are allergic to strong scents and find them offensive. I don't feel a need to wear them. On very rare occasions I will wear either Red Door or another one I can't remember the name of right now! LOL! It's aqua blue!
5. What is your best organizing tip for the new year? To read the tips of other people who are actually organized... cuz it's not ME for sure!
6. What is your favorite comic strip?
Ummmm... I haven't read the comics in a loooooong time... but I would say either Baby Blues or Zits. Classic comics would be Peanuts...
7. Do you sleep with a fluffy or flat pillow? 2 Fluffy's - but often times my head isn't on either one of them! When I sleep on my back I prefer no pillow.
8. What color is your kitchen? Why did you choose that color? Birght bright BRIGHT yellow! I chose it because my theme is the beach! See? It's verrrrrrrrry cheerful! Just like walkin' into a SUNNY DAY!!!
9. What’s the most interesting bumper sticker you’ve seen? I don't remember. Things like that provide a momentary giggle and then they're gone... do people really REMEMBER them?
10. Do you prefer an expensive writing tool or whatever is lying around? (Are you a Montblanc or a Papermate?) I LIKE a nice writing pen - but I'll use whatever is there. They all disappear no matter what kind they are or how much you paid for them!
11. What chore doesn’t feel like a chore – you just enjoy it (at least most of the time)? Wow... a chore I don't mind... ??? Feeding the birds! As long as it's not during a "wind advisory" in 20 degrees. Or sweeping the front porch.
12. If your parents often repeated themselves, what is something one of them said more than once? MY parents did NOT do this. (until my mother got alzheimers - but then she repeated entire conversations word for word) But my husbands father NEVER. EVER. ONCE. left this house (or any house) without saying "It's time to get back up to Gobbler's Nob" and then "See ya in the funny papers!" ??? And Mom (my mil) says EVERY morning when she gets up - I say "good morning"... and she says "I guess it's still morning ha ha ha ha".... OY VEY! If I DON'T say good morning - then she says it and then follows it with her punch line! I can't even imagine what it was like to live in their house! I'd have left home at by the time I was 4! (is that complaining???) I'm just sayin'!

What an interview again, lol ! I wouldn't ask anybody if I complain a lot or not. If I complain I have a reason for it and people should go with it ! I also put the Christmas stuff away, I couldn't see it anymore, lol ! and my kitchen is red as you know ! bright too ! I don't like dull and boring colors.

#10 -- I carry my own pen and a "loner" pen. My pen is MINE!
#11 -- I had a hard time with the concept of likable chores, too. If I like it, it isn't a chore, now is it?

I think my family wouldn't say I complain as much as I think I do. I don't always voice negative thoughts.
I know I've seen some interesting bumper stickers, too, but I don't remember them for more than a few days after seeing them.
That's funny about your mom saying her own good morning and comeback if no one else does. Jim's mom repeats a lot of the same things regularly, too.

Here's guessing mil doesn't read your blog. :) That would make me crazy too. Have you ever tried, "Good afternoon?" Just to spice it up a bit!
You are brave to ask your family where you are on the complaining scale. I just want to live blissfully ignorant, thank you.
Oh, stink, I forgot I was going to take down Christmas decor today. Now I've got to go work. Oh, well.

The pictures of your kitchen bring back good memories. It IS a sunny day, even when it's raining!
I'm packing all my Christmas decorations too.Early for me, but i want to move on. I want to redecorate a little but I'm very uninspired. Tomorrow is another day, no?

I'm not sure I want to ask my kids how often I complain, esp. since I yelled at the 17yo yesterday. He refused to wear a sweatshirt or a jacket; then he walked home from school in the dark at 6pm after running. You know how cold it is outside!
