Idiom Wednesday... M & N

It is Wednesday again, and thus time for some idioms! Jientje hosts this game and encourages us to pictorially display two new idioms each week - beginning with the assigned letters for the week. We're on M & N this week. It's NOT too late for you to jump in and play if you'd like to!

My idiom for "M" is...

Melts my heart!

If it melts my heart, it affects me emotionally. It can be
a happy thing or a sad thing - but it affects me.

And for letter "N"...

Nip it in the bud!

If you nip it in the bud, you stop it before it "blooms" out of control!
You deal with a small problem before it becomes something serious.

So. What's YOUR idiom today?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mom Stuff...
Soooooo... Mom & I went to stay with my friend John while Paula worked. We were John Sitting, if you will! I should have been sitting ON him - but that would have been hard since I practically had to sit on Mom! We had to be there at 7:30 - which is WAAAAAAAY early for Mom to be UP, much less ready to leave the house! But I woke her and hustled her along and we made it! She kept nodding out the first couple of hours we were there - and I was fine with that! But after lunch, around 1:00 she started thinking it was time for her to "get on down the road". She'd stand up and say, "Well, thank y'all for lunch, that was a great treat. I've got to be gettin' now though... I've got to go to the grocery store and get home before those kids tear up my house." And then she'd walk over to the patio doors (which thankfully she couldn't figure out how to open!) and point at the road... "which road is that out there again?" Huntingtown Road, I'd say. She'd think about that for a minute. "And what's that cross road down there?" Well - the cross road isn't for about 2.5 miles down the road - but I'd tell her! Of course, neither name sounded familiar to her, so then she'd say - well, I guess I'll just walk down there, and then I'll see which way I'm supposed to go! (and this is where I was SCREAMING - in my head - GET BEHIND ME SATAN!!! - cuz I was suuuuuuuuuurely tempted!) We must have gone through this whoooooole entire routine 7 or 8 times and then finally John's physical therapist showed up and that distracted her! And then his speech therapist showed up and THAT distracted her too! And by then, Paula was due home in 30 minutes and I KNEW I could survive!!! ROFL!
Did I tell you that yesterday morning she came downstairs with NO pants? She had her jammy shirt, a jacket, some lovely turquoise socks, and her shoes. No pants. She wished me good morning, headed into the kitchen and took her pills (which I put out for her when I get up) and poured a cup of coffee. Then she came in, sat down, gulped her coffee down and was ready to go! I said where ya going? She said she was going to walk up and get the mail. I said you better get dressed first. She pulled her jacket closed and said "this oughta be fine". GET BEHIND ME SATAN!!! Go put some pants on Mom. One of these days... lol... ONE of these daaaays!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I know none of you need me to share my facebook account with you. UNfortunately some of my very dearest friends have given up blogging or nearly given it up, and are self admittedly FB addicts. Now, I don't deny them that... I understand it entirely. I am a blogging addict. But my feelings are very hurt that they can't pull away from FB for 3 minutes a day to come visit me too. They're ON the computer... I'm not that far away! I don't worry about the readers I've lost that I was never really close to. It's just these were friends that I thought were forever. And it hurts. *shrug* There. I've vented. Granted it was a quiet vent... but a vent nonetheless.

Well crap...how did this post 3 times...I guess I'm making up for your FB people that don't come and visit :) LOL

You know, of course that Thom is in a contest for who posts the most comments? Uhmmm hmmm!

Both of your idioms are outstanding. I wish I'd have thought of them! But then, I likely wouldn't have done them half as well.

So, was MIL surprised when you pointed out to her that she was wearing no pants? Did she accuse you of taking them?

Oh --and please forgive me in advance -- but I think that here I may have seen a glimmer of why, as a young girl, you got fired as a baby-sitter. It was that temptation to "just let them go ahead" wasn't it?

Love your idioms and shots, Melli! mmmm chocolate and the bud is precious.
FB can be very addictive...but no reason to stop blogging since, like you said it: both take place from/at the same place, in front of the pc!!!
I had a dentist appointment on Monday and I realize I left home with my home Birkenstocks on... should I be worried???

Well I guess Murphy was here, when Thom tried to post his comments! Three times! It's a STATEMENT! I love the Mom stories too, it's been one of the reasons I started following you besides the photo challenges we did at that time. I guess I just wanted to know how she's doing? Still do. And I always get an urge to hug you both when I read them. Well, someday I will?

The melting heart made MY heart melt, it is so YOU Melli, I love it!
Nip in the bud is clever too.

Good venting too. But if they don't blog, they'll probably not read it? Hmm?

You manage to make your Mom stories funny, touching and heartwarming. I love the way you make a difficult situation more bearable and the way you nip any major disasters in the bud. (See how I worked your wonderful idioms into my comment.)

I am a bad FB friend. Maybe I should go look to see if anything is going on there today. I have a disclaimer on my page that says I'm hardly around. There's too many blinking lights for me.

Beautiful shots for both idioms! You are very creative, Melli. I find it wonderful that you are taking care of your Alzheimer Mom. That must be really tough sometimes. I so agree to you that losing friends like that hurts a lot. It shouldn't have got to this point. Hope you have a wonderful day :)

By Blogger RA, at 6/10/2009 8:39 AM

Oh Melli...you are earning your stars in heaven with your patience. I so know what you mean about the Get thee behind me, Satan from dealing with my mil and fil now. Neither of them have enough sense to do anything, but they still manage and will NOT go to assisted living. They will not even talk about it.

I'm sorry your "friends" have deserted you for facebook, but we have stayed with you and love you.

btw-I heard from Barb the other day and from time to time I hear from Karma! I'm glad, but well I'm surprised at the same time.

Good morning Melli, You amaze me with all that you do and have to take care of dear MIL!!!

I am having my first cataract surgery this afternoon and the other eye next Wednesday..I hope that it will improve my vision!!

Have a great day and keep Satan behind you..

I only visit FB to see what my teenage grands are up to!!

Talk later.. love ya, Baba

oh....I forgot to say that you can get coupons to the Crayola place online.

Nice findings for your idioms ! your mom stories always make me laugh. I know it is rather sad, but I only see the funny side. For you it must be hard sometimes ! Chantal's husband is now an empty shell. Nothing can be done anymore since he fell. He doesn't know who he is and brushes the tap instead his teeth. He likes to sit hours on the toilet and play with the paper (or other stuff, hrrmm) She can't take him home, disabled as she is. Now she is looking for a home where he can stay. Not so easy to find.

I forgot to say that I hate Facebook ! I had to subscribe as a friend to my son (lol) to see his pictures of Iceland and suddenly I had 73 "friends" even under my real name. I never thought of that. some of them I don't even know. A few of Dario's school friends (!!!) contacted me I answered them of course, I was rather flattered, but otherwise I don't touch Facebook. I am like you I love my blogging !

By Blogger Ingrid, at 6/10/2009 10:41 AM

Surprise! One of your deserted friends has come up for air! I do keep you prayed up girlfriend. The divine Miss Em is here this week so I'm trying to juggle work at the mission in the morning and "running around town" in the afternoon. Hugs to Mom....Know you are always in my prayers! (I'll try to do "better" )

By Blogger Lazy Daisy, at 6/10/2009 11:27 AM

I loved both of your idioms, especially the melted heart one!

I am the caregiver for an elderly neighbor who has Alzheimer's, so I know all too well what you mean by GET BEHIND ME SATAN. On the one hand, it's so easy to get frustrated by answering the same questions over and over again; on the other hand, you can't help but feel pity for the person who can't recall the simplest of things. God bless you and give you all the patience you need. :)

By Blogger Carleen, at 6/10/2009 11:46 AM

LOVE the chocolate! It looks warm and melted and since I'm having coffee here on this dreary day it sure would taste nice I bet!
Your nip it in the bud is wonderful!
Hope you're having a better day with today with Mom. :)

By Blogger Carletta, at 6/10/2009 1:00 PM

Love the melting chocolate heart! So cute! And the nipping n the bud thing has a lot of wisdom to it.

I enjoy the Mom stories, too. We've had some doozies but nothing quite to that extent yet. :-)

I have seen some bloggers kind of fall by the wayside after going on FB. But you wouldn't think it would be much of a problem to keep up with blogs on Google Reader, though.

By Anonymous Barbara H., at 6/10/2009 2:58 PM

Great Idioms Melli, I can see it is Chocolate that Melts yer Heart.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6/10/2009 3:04 PM

As usual your choice of idioms and your pictures were great.
Having met mom I really love your mom stories.
Over the time I have been keeping up my blog people I liked have come and gone. Some of them I missed for a time. You always wonder "Was it something I wrote?"
No face book for me. I keep getting invitations and ignoring them.

By Blogger Dr.John, at 6/10/2009 5:38 PM

Love the idioms. Plus the photos are of some of my most favorite things...chocolate and flowers...puts a smile on my face.

This is my first time here. Your mom post is hil-ar-i-ous! I will be back to see and read more.

As far as the FB friends...who needs 'em? Blogging friends have much more to say...

By Blogger Unknown, at 6/10/2009 5:50 PM

Your idioms are again very well done.
Having my mil and mother both who could not remember helped because they would not remember what had just been said and if it was repeated they didn't care.

By Blogger bettygram, at 6/11/2009 1:02 AM

I'm not a big fan of FB, either.
