Friday's Fave 5

Susanne at Living to Tell the Story hosts Friday Fave Five in which we share our five favorite things from the past week. Thank you Susanne for hosting this inspirational sharing game!

Sometimes it really IS the little things in life that make all the difference. This week I have finally gotten around to a some things I've been procrastinating on... and I do believe they qualify for my top 5!!!

1. It's almost a YEAR since my youngest son moved out of our house. His room has sat EXACTLY as he left it... in all it's grossly splendor... since that day. At first we wanted to make sure that he was really gone. Turns out he's probably got his living arrangements MORE together than any of the others had... the first time they moved out! After about 6 months I decided he probably WAS going to make it on his own... but since then I've just been avoiding the grossness. THIS week I decided to tackle it. I'm not DONE, mind you... but I've made a dent.

2. I bought outside lights for our walkway and the front of our house LAST SPRING! I finally put them up yesterday. See?

Nuttin' fancy ... but at least we can SEE
out there this winter.

3. This is going to sound really REALLY bad. I've been putting off calling a VERY good friend of mine... in many ways she is still my BEST friend... she really has to be - she knows too much about me! But our lives have changed and we haven't run into each other around town... and we don't spend hours together at the pool all summer anymore - because all of our children are grown... and anyway... I've needed to call her to ask her something... and I've been putting it off because I KNEW when I did it would be a 3 hour conversation... and frankly... I don't DO phones! For real. I know... somebody's going to take my Girl Card. But I really HATE talking on the phone. But I finally sucked it up and called -- and we only talked 2 hours and 45 minutes cuz wouldn't ya know -- her SOAP was coming on! Next time I'm callin' her 15 minutes before that SOAP! LOL! It really was goooood to talk and get caught up... but I wish it could have been in person! I hate phones...

4. This one is not too bad. I've actually be WAITING for the cool weather to arrive - but I went out and raked up all the leaves and branches that have fallen since we've had all these storms! It felt so good to be outside working on a cool Autumn day! And it has smelled good outside the last few days too!

5. AND... for the first time in 8 weeks, I am READY to teach my Sunday School class BEFORE Saturday night! I got all my prep done and my required props together and I am GOOD to GO! Allelujia!

So... now those of you that have missed me the past few days know where I've been hiding out. Sometimes ya just gotta DO life!

Oh... and I lost 4.8 pounds this week... but I'm still not down to where the little slider up there has me... so sOOn ... very sOOn! It WILL move again! LOL! (I just refuse to move it UP - that's all!)

I've been trying to get outside, too (hence my own Friday 5 today)! And I avoid phones for some of the same reasons.

Congratulations on the weight loss! Pretty soon you'll be out there raking leaves daily and that can count as exercise, right? :)

:: high five :: I am not a phone person either, just the needed message and that's it. With my flat rate for overseas calls I could literally spend 24h on the phone but I just can't...
Congrats on the weight loss, Melli, and have a wonderful weekend!

When our son moved out changed his room almost immediately. there is never a guarantee, maybe yours comes back when he is 50 ! (hehehe)

Your lamps look the same as mine, but they work with solar power, no electricity ! just with light.

Looks like you've been busy! Sometimes I have to just push away from the computer and get stuff done, and it feels good when I do.

So what are you going to do with the empty bedroom? Make a guest room?

I used to talk to my mom and one or two friends on the phone for an hour at a time, but I just can't stand to talk that long on the phone any more.

Congrats on getting your SS prep done early and losing almost 5 lbs!

These are GREAT Melli! I love both that you're tackling that room and that your youngest successfully moved out ;-)

I'm grinning about your 2 hour and 45 minute phone call. I HATE talking on the phone. Hate it, hate it! And so I avoid it as long as possible with certain people because I KNOW the conversations will be long. I always enjoy the talking but the idea of it - and being strapped to the phone - blah. =D

Congrats on the 4.8 pounds lost!

Good for you in tackling your son’s room. I SO need to do that with my daughter’s room. Your outside lights are so lovely. I don’t DO phones either. I avoid phones at all costs. Glad you got caught up with your friend though. How nice that you’re already prepared to teach your Sunday school class. It’s a good feeling! And 4.8 pounds! You go, girl!

I'm not a phone person much either. I find my ear hurts after long calls. I'd much rather meet in person or email.

Those are great jobs to have done - makes you feel so good doesn't it. I have a few finished and a few more to go. But not this weekend- it's Canadian Thanksgiving and I'm cooking!

Happy weekend!

My daughter is all the way in NC and I miss her so much sometimes. We can spend hours on the phone and because of this I got a head set. I can work, fold clothes and garden with her hung off my ear while the youngest is hung off my apron, lol.

I congratulate you on the weight loss. I love your little slider maybe I'll find one somewhere.

Love the lights along the walkway. I think they look so nice at night time.

Your #1 cracked me right up. From "grossly splendor" to "making sure he was really gone". LOL

Congrats on the almost 5 lbs. gone. Keep going!

I'm not a talker either, I'm a blogger! I'd much rather chat on yahoo or email someone or facebook than call them ...

Good for you that you tackled your son's room. I know how it is to put something off ... and then the feeling of peace when it is finally done!

Love the lights. I was looking at a few for our yard. What brand did you buy?

Derek isn't dumb. He;'s waiting for you to clean up the mess before he comes home .... ;)

Hi Melli,
Good for you for tackling your son's room. You'll feel great when it's done. Losing 4.8 pounds is fabulous. Love the lights you installed!!

Yeah, I had my girl card yanked years ago. I hate the phone and I hate shopping.

Hurray for the lbs lost! That's a big deal and I'm pleased for you!

Cleaning the bedroom? Good for you!

I know what you mean about phone calls sometimes...

Isn't it a great feeling when you get something done that's been waiting for you? Sounds like you're all caught up -- even ahead of yourself!

Have a great week.
