Cyber Cruisin .... American MYSTERY?

Didn't ya just KNOW that if
Hootin' Anni hosted a
port it was gonna be TROUBLE! A trip straight intoTrouble! Didn't I TELL you it would be like that?! I knew it! Well... honestly it started out just lovely...
We docked in LA, and then flew out to Colorado (I knew I was gonna need wings! Didn't I TELL ya I was gonna need wings!?) where we boarded a train! We chugged up the mountain ... and I mean UP. THE. MOUNTAIN. ... ... but the views on the way up were really spectacular! Those mountains out in Colorado just can NOT be beat! Well... you know... maybe in the Alps or something... but not in the good ol' U.S. of A! Nope! No way! The Rockies beat all! Indeed they do! So... we went up to some little podunk town up in the hills where they used to mine silver. They don't anymore though - so we didn't get to see people like ... panning ... or anything like that! No ... we just got to see the old mine shafts and stuff like that. And we got to shop! I got some silver jewelry! (ooooh... you didn't hear that here!) WHY? Oh I'll TELL ya why! That durn Anni! SHE gets us into these fixes! Only Anni! ONLY Anni would pick the one - the ONLY - train that was gonna get robbed! Did I TELL ya it was gonna be TROUBLE??? Oy! Yea... so we got to the little town, and we had a great time, got a WONDERFUL lunch in the Pickle Barrel - yum! -- and then we're just nonchalantly chuggin' on down the mountain, headin' back to the city.... gotta catch our plane and get back to the ship.... takin' a nice little nap and dreamin' about things that were not volcanoes... when all of a sudden ... BAM! Humongoid EXPLOSION in the rear of the train! Yep! Sure 'nuff! And you won't even believe it! Butch Cassidy and the SUNDANCE kid! Whoooa! Well, ya know... they're so cute I'd of GIVEN them MY chastity belt! ( i didn't SAY i'd give 'em anything ELSE! ... just the belt!) They had to steal the Cap'n's! They got my cheap watch -- but they didn't get my concert tickets! (and they didn't get my silver jewelry either! ... but i'm not tellin' where it was hidin'!)

Some Birds ... for Barb!
I love visiting Barb's blog over at Trying to Catch Up and seeing all her wonderful bird pictures! She and her son do such a GREAT job of capturing them and their darling little personalities on film pixels! So occasionally I give a try at it too! I'm not nearly as good (or probably as patient) as she is ... but I manage to get a thing or two worthwhile from time to time! Here are few that I've gotten recently. (Idefinitely have a bigger problem with 'lighting' than she has... I'm going to have to look around for some better places to position my feeders I think!)
Barb recently had a mourning dove up on her page, and on THAT very day I had noticed one for the first time EVER in my yard! Naturally I grabbed my camera!
And this one is a little blurry, but it's the same dove, taking a little stretch. :)
I just love this beautiful little guy! I never EVER see more than one of him at a time, and he's usually with his female counterpart... I never see more than one of her either, so I'm led to believe I only have the ONE couple living in my yard!

Cyber Cruisin' .... Day 10 & 11.... Rome & Dominican Republic
Dear Diary~
WHOA! What a couple of days it has BEEN! Busy busy busy! TOO busy to type!!! Had a wonderful time visiting Rome... touring Vatican City, the Coliseum, and finally the wine tasting at that heavenly restaurant! Molto buon! Eccellente!!! The city is soooo beautiful! And quite crowded! I couldn't believe the way the cars were parked -- like sardines! I don't know how a person EVER gets out when they want to! Seems like they all have to wait for the whistle to blow and that last one in is the first one out!!! Lucky for me WE had no cars -- we were touring on foot and public transportation! If I lived there that is what I would do too!

This morning we had a bit of an ... incident ... aboard the S.S. Lifecruiser.... and I somehow ended up in a little life raft waaaaaaaaaay off shore while the others sailed easily into port! I wasted MOST of my day paddling trying to move against the current to get onto that beaaauuuuutiful shore of Punta Cana! Once there, I hopped around quite nicely with the assistance of touring helicopters, safari tours, and speed boats! Today I was able to SWIM with the gigantic turtles! Gattina enjoyed this too -- she and one of the turtles were nose to nose making faces at one another! I got it on my underwater camera - but I have to get the film developed! They were sO funny! I also went on a deep sea fishing expedition! I caught a Blue Marlin - it was ((((THIS BIG)))) !!! It took me and the captain and the first mate and half the other tourists on board to haul that baby in!!! I didn't keep him... I'm kinda all for catch 'n release ... so we just took a picture of him and let him go! Boy that was FUN!!! (hubby would be SO jealous!) Tonight we're having a party on the beach, and I think I'm going to learn to dance merengue! Can you DO that in the sand??? I kind of always thought that was best left for the ballroom... By the way... do you LOVE my hat? This was a GREAT one! I actually SAW it on a lady walking down the street! I made her an offer and she SOLD it to me! Can ya believe it? Do you think she has 25 more of them at home? I bet she sells one EVERY day .... what d'ya think? THIS just MIGHT be the one for the Hat Parade! ;)

Cyber Cruisin' .... Day 8... Ottowa, CANADA
Dear Diary ~
Ugh! I overslept this morning -- I must have wore myself out in Alaska yesterday. Anyway... I MISSED seeing how the Captain maneuvered this ship up through that tiiiiiiiiny little river into Ottowa! I MUST make sure to stay up tonight to see how she gets us OUT of here! It's even more perplexing now that I know the river is FROZEN SOLID in the winter time! ???
So! Ottowa is yet another beautiful city in this world that I never really knew of before! I'll tell you... there's nothing like a cruise around the world to OPEN your eyes to new adventures! My ONLY regret about this whole trip is that I really need at least a WEEK in every port... not just one day... *sigh*....
Well, I couldn't make up my mind about hats today. I definitely went with ones I had brought with me... I didn't see any milliners along the way -- and really I was too busy to shop! I LOVE to ice skate and the chance to zoom up and down this completely frozen river for miles and miles -- well! That was just too tempting! So, I donned my skates and my warm purple hat (not too warm cuz ya know ya get sweaty when you skate that hard!) and I hit the ice! And when I say I hit the ice, I mean I HIT the ice ... with my bum! And with my knees! Several times! It's been a while since I last ice skated... I might be a little rusty.... but you know... it comes back quickly! I know I got a good 10 miles in today! Which was a good thing because I'm pretty sure that Beaver Tail was NOT low fat! I probably need another 10 miles before it's completely worked off!
This afternoon I went to visit the tulip garden! For this I wore my hot pink hat! I wanted to match some of the tulips! With my pink hat and my green shirt, I looked JUST LIKE a tulip!!! Those gardens were sooooooooo beautiful... and I wasn't even tempted to pluck the heads off all those flowers! I don't know WHY Sanni wouldn't take those handcuffs off me! I was good... *pout*... really I was! Waaaaaay better than Irish Church Lady and Anni!!! Did you SEE them? They were makin' spectacles of themselves! ....
I would never do that.... did you SEE Anni up on top of that War Memorial? And when that cop came by? I NEVER knew she could run that
fasssst! And ICL on that
pogo stick! Where did that
come from anyway! I'm going to have to try that when we get back on board tonight!
This sure was a fun day! I laughed myself silly!
