Random Thoughts Of The Day

Some days I get up and just don't have a "solid" thought in my head... ya know? Might be partly because I'm feeling a little bit dizzy again this morning -- just a bit. Nothing bad! Took the meds - I'm sure it will be fine!

I'm feeling happy because I have finally gotten my Living Room back to livable since Amanda moved out. Of course, this means that the room that was occupied by her as a bedroom while she was here is now back to being completely UNinhabitable! LOL! But it's fine for pedaling in - as that is where my bike and my gazelle have gone back to live -- getting them OUT of my living room! YAY!

I finished reading a book a few days ago called If You Want To Walk On Water, You've Got To Get Out Of The Boat -- thank you Daisy. When I started reading this book I really REALLY thought I WAS a water walker! Halfway through the book I STILL thought I was a water walker! 2 Days after completing the book I'm realizing that if I want to walk on water I really DO have to get out of the boat! Apparently this book has really spoken to me and I am now completely AWARE of which boat I need to jump out of... I'm really really wondering if I'm going to have the faith required to step out.... please pray for me that I will. Water walking is a HUGE deal. I cry just thinking about taking this step. Pray... please do pray.

Hm... apparently I did have a thought in my head today. I just didn't know it when I started typing. Okay... well now I'm off to catch up on some housework -- since I DO have the day off today. I guess I should do sOMething with it! It's the last one this week!

Y'all have a GREAT day! Love you! :)

It's ALL In The Name....

A Texas friend of mine was relaying to me some of the ... um ... more unusual city names in the great state of Texas last night. It was a rather long list, so I won't share the whole thing here... I'll just mention a few of my favorites. Several towns were named for food... you could live in Noodle, TX ... or Oatmeal, TX. Some folks wish they lived in another country - so they live in Egypt, TX ... or Athens, TX ... or even Paris, TX. I know of at least ONE person (several actually) who hails from Texas that had HOPED to reside in Washington, DC -- and thus the town of Whitehouse, TX! Not to get too political, but another town is named Kilgore. Hmmm... wonder who lives there... My personal favorite though was Ding Dong, TX! If you click the link you can actually read about how THIS little (itty bitty teensy weensy) town GOT it's name! I think I have decided to move there!

However... while I was researching Ding Dong, I learned (in that article actually) that Texas does not actually hold the record for the "weirdest of all" city names. That honor goes to the home state of another good friend of mine! Jen? Don't YOU hail from TENNESSEE? Well, congratulations to you!!! Tennessee is home to such popular towns as Sweetlips, Gizzard's Cove, Bucksnort, and.... my absolute favorite - Suck Egg Hollow!!! Sorry... it won't keep me away from Ding Dong though!

I'm really feeling kind of jipped now. I've been trying to find some really fun places to live in Maryland... but the best I could find was maybe Accident. I'm not sure ANYone would want to live there though! We do have a Hollywood though! It's actually not far from me...

My good friend Lazy Daisy had her picture taken next to a city sign in Daisy, GA! I looked around and found a Daisy, Arkansas (Pike County) and a Daisy, New York (Ulster County) too! Tennessee has a Soddy-Daisy -- but MY Daisy is anything BUT soddy! How dare they!? I guess Daisy's got some traveling to do now....

I did a search to see if there were any towns named after my people... Dennis gets a town in Massachusettes, a township in New Jersey, and a city in Texas! (Texas is big - it's to be expected...) My Amanda has a township in Ohio. Mathew got a township in South Dakota and a county in VA. Krysti came up blank -- but if we would change her spelling she could have Christy, Illinois! Too bad... Derek also came up blank. I thought that was odd since we actually spelled his name normal!!! LOL! Poor boy. Then I went looking for ME! Can you believe that in this whole big HUGE United States there is not ONE county, town, city or township named Melli??? Geeeeez ... do these people not KNOW??? Get me my Congressman! Get me the PRESIDENT! .... I want MY picture taken next to a city sign. *pout* I think I'll just change my name to Ding Dong!!!

Sunday 7 ....

This week's seven is just things I'm thankful for in the past week!

1. I'm SO thankful that VBS was such a success last week! I've MISSED it this week - even though I was honestly too dizzy to care for a good bit of the week! LOL!

2. I am ever so thankful for doctors who prescribe medications that work! I honestly was not sure that this doctor (he was not MY doctor) was in his right mind prescribing drugs that CAUSED the same issues I was complaining about! But lo and behold - they worked! I thank the doctor and I thank my Lord!!!

3. I must give thanks for my work partners who really came to my rescue this week! Each morning I got up and TRIED to go to work -- well, in fact I DID go IN to work -- but I was supposed to work until 1:30 each afternoon -- but someone came in to relieve me at 10:00 each morning -- and I mean I was REALLY thankful!!! I could just barely keep my head up! It was not good! Thanks to THEM I was able to come home and go back to bed!

4. I am also very thankful for sweet and understanding MEMBERS at our Curves -- because they are NOT used to a bedraggled Melli! They are used to a chipper, perky, energetic Melli who coaxes them on and CHEERS for them! Well... this week they were cheering ME on! They are all such good people!

5. My good buddy and partner in crime, Lazy Daisy called and told me that she has APPROVED the dates I chose to make a BIG trip to Savannah in October! Of course, I couldn't GO without taking Daisy - so her approval was of prime importance! Flip Flop Floozie's approval was also of prime importance! We are going to descend upon HER home ... and her poor hubby! But she has approved it too - SO! Ladies of the Southeast ... we are ON for October! And I am sO excited I just can hardly wait! It's going to be forever now until October gets here!!! We are going to try to get together with as many Southern friends as we can that week!

6. I'm WAY thankful that 3 of my kids made it safely to New York this weekend for a very special once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend a rock concert that they have just been SO excited about! I'll be even MORE thankful when they are once again safely back in my home!!!

7. Krysti and I have almost finished shopping for all her college necessities. We made a marathon day of it yesterday and got about 90% of it completed! And I just have to tell this -- it's too funny! We had JUST walked out of IKEA and put all her goodies in the car when her new college roommate (Stacey) called to say that SHE had just bought her bedspread and that it is purple, blue and lime green! Well... we had JUST bought Krysti's bedspread too - and it is also purple, blue and lime green! We're not sure -- but we THINK they may have gotten the exact same one! WHAT ARE THE CHANCES??? rofl!

Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt - Creative

Join the blogroll. Visit participants.

This was HARD! I have sO many creative outlets that I use... but I have shared a good bit of what I do with you before... and so I wanted to pick something I haven't shared! I decided on this...

You can click to make it bigger if you'd like. THIS will actually to serve to show you how artistic I'm NOT! LOL! This IS as good as my drawing gets! I can not draw anything that looks "real" - but I do okay with cartooning! I actually did 4 of these (each different) back in 1997. It was just a "phase" in my artistic nature... ONE of them actually SOLD in a little religious store that no longer exists. One is living in New Zealand - I did it for a friends new baby - then lost contact with the friend! (so really I can only HOPE it still lives!) One is living in a nearby friend's bathroom -- all decorated in Noah's Ark. And this one lives in Krysti's room! I WISH I had taken pictures of the others... they were all really cute (in my opinion!) ... and like I say... each one was different. (please notice THIS one has the Chicago Bulls playing basketball) They each had something of THAT nature to them too! And the woodpeckers, beavers, or termites were always wreaking havoc! :) Fun stuff!

Friday Feast # 153

Wanna Play?

Appetizer
Describe a toy you remember from your childhood.
Do you know that song about the Marvelous Toy - by John Denver? The lyrics go "It went zip when it moved and bop when it stopped whirrrrr when it stood still, I never knew just what it was and I guess I never will." Well - I had a toy like that! I knew what it was - it was a spaceship... the 1960's version of what a spaceship should be. It was silver with LOTS of brightly colored flashing lights on it. One of those toys a child can't play WITH, but just watch! I did love that thing though! I think I was 3 or 4 when I had it... maybe 5.

Soup
On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest) how observant are you?
Ugh... I am such a zero! No no no... okay... honestly... about a 4! Not very observant at all!

Salad
Where would you rather be at this very moment?
LOL! Back in BED! I have to be at work in 47 minutes though...

Main Course
When was the last time you learned something new?
Yesterday! I learn something new EVERYday! It's easy when ya don't know much to start with!

Dessert
Fill in the blank: I have ____________ but I haven’t ____________.
I have lots of books but I haven't read them yet! (i'm workin' on it though)

MY Curiosity Is Up!

I'm AMAZED at how quickly some of you want me to go BACK to the doctors about this dizziness.

Do you guys REALLY go back every other day if the problem doesn't resolve right away?

I think one trip a week to the doc is often enough....

More Dizziness....

Are you guys tellin' me that VERTIGO IS an illness?
And that I just have to get through it???

Good grief.... the doctor DID mention Vertigo... but I thought he was just explaining to me the TYPE of dizziness I was feeling. Now I have folks telling me that Vertigo is something ya "just have to get through"??? Is this RIGHT? NO! I refuse! This can't be! How long does it take???

I am just not believing this is happening. I have absolutely NO other symptoms. JUST dizziness. And I just want it to GO AWAY! I can not function! This is not fair....

I know... life is not fair.

Dizzy Update....

I did get into the doctors today. Not MY doctor mind you -- he couldn't see me until August 20-something! But another doc in the same group.... *shrug* He doesn't think I have Lymes - but he tested for it anyway. He does think I have some inner ear "congestion" - not an infection. He sent me home with 3 medicines to take! A nasal spray for my ears. A decongestant. And an anti-dizzy / anti-nausea stuff to be taken "as needed". ( I wonder if it's addictive...) Told me I'd hear in 7-10 days if I have Lymes. I'm trying to figure out HOW I'll know if they help when they all say MAY CAUSE DIZZINESS! or MAY CAUSE DROWSINESS! ??? I have a feeling I may be in for the long haul on this one! LOL!

Not really DAZED... Just Dizzy!

I’m so dizzy my head is spinning
Like a whirlpool it never ends...

Goooood grief! I'm dizzy enough all by myself without having dizzy "issues"! I guess I'm going to call the doctor this morning... I'm actually thinking I might have Lyme Disease. I had a bad tick bite a couple of months ago and never got it checked out.... *oops*! But exercising hasn't helped ... and it seems to be getting worse! It actually wakes me up when I roll over in my sleep! Yea... I get dizzy just rolling over... this is really weird! Should be FUN at work this morning! (yea... I'll be careful! I promise!)

Sunday Seven... Playing Ketchup!

Sunday Seven is a meme designed for giving thanks or recognition to the big and little things going on in our lives. Sort of a reminder to count our blessings, if you will! If you'd like to play along, go here.

1. I was just a weeeeee bit busy this past week and did NOT keep track daily of my blessings -- but I guarantee you EVERY day was FILLED with blessings this week! VBS was just plain FUN and I just PRAY that I was a positive influence on some of those kids and made a great memory for SOMEbody! Sooooooo many of them made great memories for ME!

2. I got to meet so many more members of my church this week - and had some great (as in AWESOME) volunteer helpers working WITH me throughout the week! I know I'll never remember all of their names though ... and that just saddens me! WHY can't I have a memory Lord?

3. I learned a BUNCH of new Christian kid songs! I even woke up one morning singing "I believe, I DO believe, Truly I believe it! Truly I believe it! Truuuuuuly I believe it! I believe, I do believe, Truly I believe it! Truly I believe it! Truuuuuuuly I believe it!" ROFL!!! Oy! Of course, that's just the chorus - there are LOTs of other words - truly! The band that was visiting the first part of the week was TRULY energized and really made the PRAISE part of the day a blast!!! The kids couldn't HELP but dance!

4. My neighborhood was blessed with some GOOD rain this week! It wasn't enough and it didn't last long -- but at least the ground got a good drenching! Even if most of it did just run off.... SOME is sO much better than NONE!

5. I have been especially thankful for NAPS this week! They are honestly a necessity in my life even during a normal week -- at least a couple times a week! But this past week I could NOT have gotten through without at least a short nap most of the days! I know it's going to take me TWO weeks to recouperate from this one!!!

6. Amanda has invited us up to her home tomorrow night for supper ... and fun! So we're going and I'm planning on double portions of fun!

7. My kitchen table is clean. :) First time I've been able to see the top of it in two weeks!

Now. Something important happened this week... and I missed it! The Pope made an announcement? Something about the Catholic faith being the ONLY faith? Can SOMEbody please tell me exactly what was said ... and why??? I'm totally lost on this one! (and I don't want to make a fool of myself to my RL friends! ROFL! It's okay with YOU guys though!) Actually... I'm going to ask Pastor Paul about it tomorrow... IF I get the chance... but I would still like to hear what you've heard ... and what you think!

VBS - Day 5 -- Jewelry Shop

Oooo La La! Welcome to the JEWELRY shop!
Today we will be making necklaces using one of Galilee's finest
commodities ... seashells!

LOOK!!!
Even my sandals have sea shells on them!
(the sandal maker made them JUST for ME!)

Here in Galilee, we have some shells that are FAR to big to use for jewelry -- but they are wonderful for other things!

Like hearing the ocean!

I guarantee you this little guy had "some stuff"
to tell his folks tonight! He has had the BEST
time this week! (just in awe of it all!)

Making jewelry is hard work...

... requiring GREAT concentration

... and a little "Elvis" lip action!

But great fun is had in spite of the work!

And we are SO proud...

... of the finished products!

Then a little digging in the sand...

... for the perfect shell to take home...
from the Sea of Galilee.

Bye Bye!
(some people make it into my blog JUST
cuz they are sO darn cute!)

This is my Knee BooBoo.
I got it tripping up the steps walking over the
dune to get out of Galilee... I was carrying too
much stuff and couldn't properly lift my skirt!
I thought Daisy would appreciate me getting a
sympathy boo boo!

So... Vacation Bible School is over... (i am sad) ... and I have to go back to work tomorrow. At 8:00 in the morning! NO rest for the weary! LOL! I took a nap this afternoon and when my alarm went off I woke up thinking "NO! LORD, I can't DO this!" ... I thought it was time to get up and go to WORK. LOL! He answered me! He said "It's OKAY child! You don't have to! It's only Friday evening!" ROFL!!! THANK YOU LORD!!! Thank you....

It really was a great week and I am going to MISS it! But on the other hand, maybe I am ready for life to get back to some version of normal! I've been having some diziness issues the last 2-3 days - and I think it just MIGHT be because I have NOT worked out all week! So, probably getting in to Curves tomorrow morning will be the best thing for me!!!

Thanks for all your great comments this week too! I'm SO glad you've enjoyed MY visit to Galilee By The Sea!

VBS - Day 3 ... Making JOYFUL Music Unto The Lord

Welcome budding young musicians!
Welcome to my music shop!
(I had rings on my fingers and BELLS on my wrists!)
(and around my neck too...)
TODAY was my FAVORITE day of VBS!

The "littles" made shakers today - and they made BEAUTIFUL music!

Shake your groove thing!
Shake your groove thing!
Ya Ya!~
(some of them got into some other stuff...)

The middles made the tambourines!

And they knew how to use them!

Making JOYFUL Noise Music unto the Lord!

Once again, I did NOT get to photograph the older kids making their projects. This is driving me nuts, because there are FAR fewer of them, and I should have MORE time to take their pictures.... but... the best layed plans of mice and men... ya know? I don't have as many "helpers" with the older kids (not that I should need them) and UNfortunately sOMe of them couldn't follow a direction if you dangled it in front of their face! LOL! Soooooooo.... the 4th & 5th graders made Unity Sticks ... but I got no pictures! Only this...

my sample...

Bummer!

Tonight we have a concert at church - hopefully all the kids will bring their instruments, and I can get some pictures there!
