Sunday Sshhhtuff.... and a stolen meme

I was sooooooo happy this morning when I woke up and found that I still only had TWO big toes! I had a dream last night that the baby toe on my left foot turned into a BIG toe - and I had two on that foot! Plus the one on the right foot! Now... don't you just WONDER what a dream analyst would have to say about THAT!?

I am now SO excited I can hardly even breathe! Yesterday I got an email from Jientje agreeing to make ME one of her stops on her Grand Tour of America this coming November!!! I can't believe it!!! I've never had a blogger come to ME before! I've always done the goin'... I have to keep going back and reading the email AGAIN to make sure I didn't dream IT!!! This is very VERY exciting indeed! The poor dear thinks she just wants to stay around here and look for manhole covers with me... she just doesn't have a clue HOW BORING my town is! But we will find 'stuff' to do! And we will have our camera's with us! Look OUT world!

I was just over visiting Thom who participates in Sunday Stealing which is a meme whereby they host STEALS a meme and passes it on to the rest of the players. I don't participate in it on Sundays ... but today I'm coming up short for news, so I'm stealing it, but I'm still not PLAYING it! LOL! (got it?) Ohhhhhhh just read it if ya want to...

1. What bill do you hate paying the most? I don't pay them, I just create them. Dennis hates paying ALL of them!

2. Where was the last place you had a romantic dinner? What IS this thing romance of which you speak?

3. How many colleges did you attend? Zip.

4. Why did you choose the shirt that you have on right now? Because it's big and baggy and comfy to sleep in!

5. First thought when the alarm went off this morning? I don't use an alarm, but I wasn't ready to wake up... however, I wanted coffee before church so I knew I better get up... therefore my first thought was "UGH!"

6. Last thought before going to sleep last night? LOL! I'm not sure how far I got.... I was praying...

7. What do you miss about being a child? I don't miss anything about BEING a child. I think I still AM a child. I still have all the wonder of the universe... and I still like to splash in puddles! Yep - all the important stuff is still there.

8. What errand/chore do you despise? All of them. Probably grocery shopping is the top of the list. I hate paying out all that money for food I don't really want to cook and shouldn't really eat!

9. Have you found real love yet? Yes. I love Jesus, and that's as REAL as it gets!

10. What do you get every time you go into Wal-Mart? A headache. Oh no! That's Kmart! Ummmm.... there is no particular item I buy EVERY time I go into W*mart!

11. Do you think marriage is an outdated ritual? No. I think it's Biblical and intended.

12. What famous person would you like to have dinner with? Jesus!

13. Ever had to use a fire extinguisher for its intended purpose? I NEEDED to - but didn't have one! Does that count?

14. Somewhere in California you’ve never been and would like to go? Well, I've never been to California at all ... so we'll start with that!

15. At this point in your life would you rather start a new career or a new relationship? I never wanted to start a career in the first place - so I certainly don't want a NEW one! I guess relationship - but I don't want to go there either!

16. Do you have a “go to” person? Several.

17. Are you where you want to be in life? I'm close.

18. Over the years, what about you do you think has changed the most? Oh goodness! What HASN'T changed? I can't think of a single aspect of "me" that has not changed drastically over the years!

19. Looking back at high school were they the best years of your life? Not EVEN! More like the worst!

20. Are there times you still feel like a kid? Most of the time! But a different kid!

21. Where was the hang out spot when you were a teenager? The mini-mall.

22. Who do you think impacted your life the most? God.

23. Was there a teacher or authority figure that stood out for you? Yes... I've spoken of him several times... Mr. Camissa - my high school VP.

24. Do you tell stories that start with “when I was your age”? Sometimes

25. What is the scariest thing that has happened to you as an adult? Probably just realizing that I am an adult and as such I am responsible for others.

26. What advice would you give to someone about to get married? Be sure. Don't rush. LAUGH! Lots!

27. What advice would you give someone starting their first job? Show up early... not on time. Punch out 2 minutes late rather than two minutes early. Treat it like a career.

28. If you could go back and change one thing you did, what would it be? I would have raised my kids to be Christians.

29. If you could go back and change one thing someone else did, what would it be? I would change numerous mistakes my boys have made... but maybe not. They ARE learning from them... I suppose.

25 DEEP Questions...

Krysti sent me this one from her FaceBook notes... I'm not tagging - but if you do it let me know!

1. What is more difficult for you, looking into someones eyes when you are telling them how you feel, or looking into someone’s eyes when they are telling you how they feel?:

It depends on how I'm telling them I feel. Or how they are telling me they feel. Telling someone how much I LOVE them is very easy to look them in the eye for -- but telling someone I don't care so much for them would be a bit harder. I am mostly an eye contact person though...

2. Think of the last time you were REALLY angry. WHY were you angry? Do you still feel the same way?:

I haven't been REALLY angry in a long time I don't think. As a matter of fact... the last time I remember being REALLY angry was due to someone's selfishness... and remembering it, I don't feel the intensity of it, but I do still feel they were very very wrong.

3. You are on a flight from Honolulu to Chicago nonstop. There is a fire in the back of the plane. You have enough time to make ONE phone call. Who do you call? What do you tell them?:

Over the ocean, huh? I can't imagine I'd be thinking to make a phone call... but I doubt I'd be thinking about bailing out either. And for the sake of the question, I will assume that I WOULD make a phone call. I imagine I would call Dennis, and I would tell him what was going on, and that if I don't survive, to know that I love him and to make sure the children know I love them, and that I wasn't afraid. They should know that I wasn't afraid. See? To do it RIGHT I would need enough time for at least 5 phone calls. Perhaps I would text everyone in ONE text message! Oh nooooooo... I'd be dead before I got to hit send....

4. You are at the doctor’s office and he has just informed you that you have approximately one month to live. Do you tell anyone/everyone you are going to die? What do you do with your remaining days? Would you be afraid?:

I would tell family, but I doubt that I would tell friends. Not that my friends aren't important to me, but if I only have one month left, then it's going to be all about family. And I would definitely tell them. It would be a time that I think they would listen to what I have to say - and to know and understand that no, I'm not afraid. Death doesn't frighten me, not even a little bit. But mostly it would just be some intense "together time". If I could I would probably rent a place at the beach and just have everyone come and spend my last month with me, just whiling away the days with each other.

5. You can have one of the following two things. Which do you choose? Why? Love and Trust:

I've heard this question between Love and Respect - never Love and Trust. Women typically choose love, men typically choose respect. I guess they would choose trust - which is closer to respect than it is to love. I don't think (like Krysti) that love and trust go hand in hand. I have loved many people that I did not trust! And while I do hope that my loved one's trust me, I do think that Love is the greater desire. If you LOVE me, you'll stick by me even if you don't trust me...

6. You are walking down the street on your way to work. There is a dog drowning in the canal on the side of the street. Your boss has told you if you are late even once more, you are fired. Do you take the time to save the dog’s life?:

LOL... well tardiness has never been a problem with me on ANY job, so I can't really imagine this scenario... but aside from that... the real question is, Is a dog's life worth me losing my means of supporting a family over? Since I currently don't work and I'm NOT responsible for supporting my family at the moment I would lose a piddly job to save a dog. However... thinking back to when I was a single mom, and solely supporting Amanda, there is no way on the face of the earth I would allow an animal to come between me and my means of supporting my kids! Relativity... it's all about relativity!

7. You are unfaithful to your spouse/significant other. Do you tell him/her? Why or Why not?:

Wouldn't happen. Ever. I don't even need to entertain it.

8. Your friend confesses that he/she has feelings for you more then just friendship. He/she is falling in love with you. What do you do/say?:

WOW! Now that one just gets into all kinds of messiness! What I do/say would greatly depend ... upon whether my friend was a he or a she -- Ya know? If it's my best female friend and she's not only telling me she's gay, but also that I am the object of her affections -- what I do and say would be quite a bit different than if my friend is a guy and he's just falling for me. Fortunately for me, I guess I can say ... I'm sorry - I'm married! To either of them!!!

10. Are you the kind of friend that you would want to have as a friend?:

Ya know what? Sometimes I'm not. Mostly I am. (I had started writing an explanation - but it turned into a book, so I erased it!)

11. Does love = sex?:

Not at all.

13. When was the last time you told someone HONESTLY how you felt regardless of how difficult it was for you to say? Who was it? What did you have to tell the person

It's been recently. It would be Dennis... and what we say in that context is no one else's business! Sorry!

14. What would be (or what was) harder for you to tell a friend, you love them or that you do not love them back?:

Don't love them back

15. What do you think would be the hardest thing for you to give up? Why would it be hard to lose?:

The past year + I have had to give up my solitude. It has been very hard. I knew it would be. I am not a "loner" - I love being with people and especially family - but I also RELISH my time alone. I like to think and pray and converse with God, and I absolutely LOVE silence! Silence has always been my favorite sound. So giving that up to spend every hour of almost every day in the company of another person has been very hard. Because even if she doesn't talk much - just "being here" disrupts my solitude. Very selfish of me, huh?

16. Excluding romantic love, when was the last time you told someone you loved them? Who were they to you?:

Luz Estrella! My grandbaby! About a million times today.

18. Imagine: it is a dark night, you are alone, it is raining outside, you hear someone walking around outside your window. WHO do you wish was there with you?:

What's rain got to do with it? Dennis is good! I want him here! Even if it's not raining!

19. Would you give a homeless person CPR if they were dying? Why or Why not?:

I'm supposing "homeless" is supposed to translate to "skid row bum"... but regardless, yes. I would give CPR to anyone that needed it -- providing I'm the only one there because it's been a LONG time since I've had a CPR refresher course and I would want the person to actually LIVE!

21. You are holding onto your grandmother’s hand and the hand of a newborn that you do not know as they hang over the edge of a cliff. You have to let one go to save the other. Who do you let fall to their death? What was your reason for making the decision?:

Well, this is easier for me than it should have been. But I didn't really know either of my grandmothers, and so, I would think, that the old person has lived their life and the new one has so much to hope for... That really IS a tough question though. If I had known my grandmothers and had emotional closeness to them, my answer may be very different.

22. Are you old fashioned?:

Yea... probably. At least in some ways.

23. When was the last time you were nice to someone and did NOT expect anything in return for it?:

I don't normally expect anything in return for my niceness.

24. Which would you choose, true love with a guarantee of a broken heart, or never loved at all? Why?:

TRUE LOVE is the ONLY way to go!

25. If you could do anything or wish anything, what would it be?:

To travel the world and view all of the beauty God has given us.

Alphabet Challenge & A Meme

*** If you are a Christian, please stop right here, this minute, and pray for my friend John. As of last evening doctors have cut his chances of surviving to 1%. But I know what God can do with even 0%... so please pray! You don't need details - just lift him up! John Fogleman... Do it NOW. Thank you. (and prayers for his family too.)

Week 7 -- M & N

This week wasn't too bad! Well... I had discovered my M waaaaaay back in the beginning... I think during week 2! N was a little bit trickier -- but I found both a capital N and a lower case n at the restaurant with Amanda & Luz on Friday - not inside - but while we were walking around outside. So, here's what I've got!

Discovered M while preparing to make a salad one night.
I really think THIS M could be capital OR lower case...

Then capital N was found in the styling of the building...

While lower case n was found in the landscaping.

Wanna see how other's find the alphabet in everyday things?
Well... here's

And now...
A Meme I've Probably Already Done, But I'm Doing Again...
Snatched it from Hootin' Anni the other day...

1. What is your favorite sit-down restaurant?
I don't really have a favorite... anywhere that specializes in seafood is good. But locally? I guess it would be Stoney's down on Broome's Island. Without a doubt they have the best crabcake in the universe!

2. What food could you eat for 2 weeks straight and not get sick of it?
Either cereal or pizza.

3. Have you ever had anything removed from your body?
Pft! I hardly have anything LEFT! (I should be skinny!)

4. What is the last heavy item you lifted?
What is heavy??? 20 years ago I lifted a LOT of heavy duct and metal... haven't done that for a long time! Nowadays heavy is a 20 pound bag of dog food! Lifted that last week! Heavy is really a relative term.

5. Have you ever been knocked unconscious?
Knocked? No. Passed out unexpectedly and for no reason whatsoever... YES!

6. If it were possible, would you want to know the day you were going to die?
No way!

7. If you could change your name, what would you change it to?
I'm really quite happy with Melli! That's why I don't use BeachyNana1 or ... Pumpkin Head for a screen name. I'm Melli. It's who I am... it's who I wanna BE!

8. What’s your goal for the year?
To be a better Melli at the END of the year than I was at the beginning!

9. Last person you hugged?
Dennis. A few minutes ago!

10. First place you went this morning?
Potty.

11. Do you always answer your phone?
Nope.

12. It’s four in the morning and you get a text message, who is it?
One of my boys... needing help. Now.

13. If you could change your eye color what would it be?
Ohhhh eenie meenie miny mo... brown or blue? Blue or brown? BROWN!

14. What’s on your wish list for your birthday?
That's a miiiiiiighty long way away... dinner with the family!

15. Does the future make you more nervous or excited?
The only future I really think about is Eternal Life - and that's pretty exciting! But other than that I don't really project much into the future... I sort of take life as it comes.

16. Do you have any saved texts?
Saved? Like not-yet-deleted? Or like never to be deleted? No! I just emptied my phone for the sake of this question! It was just too confusing! They're ALL gone!

17. Ever been in a car wreck?
Yessssss indeed.

18. Do you have an accent?
Doesn't everyone? I'm thinking if I were in France, or Spain, or Boston... they would ALL think I have a pretty strong accent.

19. What was the last song to make you cry?
Ohhhh wow... it's been quite awhile... and I forget the name of it... that one about the little girl who has cancer ... and she can't go to the prom ... but her boyfriend shows up and shaved all his hair off... and they dance and dance... it's soooo sweet. Sarah-Beth is scared to death to hear what the doctors will say...

20. What did you do last night?
Don't faint! I watched a movie with Dennis. A real one. Pride and Glory. It had about 784 useless "f" words in it... but the story was okay. NOT "good" - but okay. However, it had about 784 useless "f" words in it and I wouldn't really recommend it.

21. Have you ever felt like you hit rock bottom?
"Felt like"... see there we go again. I'm pretty sure I actually have hit rock bottom. But no... I never FELT like I did. I always had hope. HOPE is the buffer that keeps you from realizing you're as low as you can go!

22. Current hate right now?
Once upon a time I HATED liver and onions. But through the years I have occasionally cooked it anyway just because Dennis LOVES it. So when I cooked it the other night, as I was eating it, I realized that I truly don't HATE it anymore. I just would never choose it to be my dinner in a restaurant. And with that realization, I think I can safely say I don't really hate anything. Oh... well okay... I hate Satan!

23. Met someone who changed your life?
I think every person I've ever met has probably changed me or changed my life in one way or another. Just the fact that I met them actually changed my life! Added a new character! But sOMe people have had a larger impact on my life than others.

24. How did you bring in the New Year?
LOL! Have I mentioned I'm an OLD woman this year? I stayed home. I was asleep before the ball dropped.

25. What song represents you?
I can't choose one. I really can't. There are waaaaaaaay. too. many.

Handbag Heaven!!!

My friend Barbara H. got a NEW handbag yesterday!!! I am so jealous because I have been looking for a new one for weeeeeeks and have not yet come across this Falls handbag of my dreams... *sigh* But I did go and take the handbag test... THIS is what happens when you check off all but 2 of the options!

What Your Handbag Says About You

You are concerned with how you appear. Projecting your high status is important to you.
You tend to be relaxed throughout the day. You are naturally at peace.You tend to be on high alert. You are very aware of your surroundings.
You are a low maintenance person. You can adapt to a variety of situations. You are a high maintenance person. You feel lost outside of your normal environment. You are open and comfortable with who you are. You don't hide anything. You are an organized and together person. You are competent and successful. You are a very creative person. Your life tends to be a whirlwind, but you always seem to pull it together. You are practical and down to earth. You tend to be a rather reserved and quiet person. You are an outgoing and expressive person. You always speak your mind, and you're very approachable.

You are a very unique and special person. There's no one else who is anything like you.

What Does Your Handbag Say About You?

THEN!... of all things, Barbara had a Handbag MEME!!! Oh yeeeeea! This is exciting stuff! You know I had to take it! Sooooooo here we gooooo...

1. How many purses do you own?
I had to go count! I have 10 - but one of them is MIA - I think I might have let Krysti have it...

2. In general do you like small purses or large purses?
Yes! Actually... I do think the small ones are really cute ... and for a long time I liked them SO small it was nothing more than a change purse that hung on my key ring! But... for some reason, lately I've been back into having STUFF ... and small ones just don't have enough room for STUFF!

3. In general do you like lots of pockets or just to dump stuff into one big pocket?
In a "perfect" purse, I like one divider inside, and a zipped pocket outside. But how often do you find that??? My current purse (which I hate by the way... don't even know why I HAVE it...) has one big pouch on the inside with a zipper pocket and then two smaller open pockets for cell phone and... whatever? Then it has 2 zipper pockets on the outside - one on each side - which is just NONSENSE! I never open the right one first! This purse has got to GO! ( i know... i know... why don't i just switch to one of the other 9 that i do like? BECAUSE... i'm waiting to switch to my NEW Fall handbag when i find it!!! ) *rolls eyes*

4. What is the color of your purse or, if you have more than one, what is the color of most of your purses?
LOL! You're kidding me... right? Okay... it's obviously time for a picture!

5. Do you like leather or fabric purses?
I prefer leather - but the fabric ones are FUN sometimes! This why ya gotta have a selection! I absolutely LOVE that little plaid one with the pink... it was a GREAT summer bag! And the navy/white pinstripe is fun too!

6. If you didn’t have to be practical, what kind of purse would you LOVE to have?
Mmmmm... you know... the styles change every year... and honestly - I think MOST of the "designer" bags are hideous! Not ALL... but really... the average workaday woman can NOT pull off Prada! Really... I DON'T have to be practical! Who am I impressing? I CAN be practical - or I can be cute - or I can be OUTRAGEOUS -- but I'm NOT spending $1500 on a handbag! I'm NOT spending $350 on a handbag! I'm NOT spending probably over $50 on a handbag -- and I would realllllllly have to LOVE it to spend that! I do buy almost all of my bags on sale though! Why SHOULD I pay full price?

7. How old is your oldest purse?
Hmmmm... that's a good question! The little teeny tiny black one on the far left belonged to Dennis' aunt before she died. I don't think she ever used it! It was a nice little bag, so I kept it! The oldest one that was mine originally is the cream clutch purse - it is ... WOW... it's 30 years old!!! LOL! Oh my gosh...

8. When was the last time you got a new purse?
I didn't get a new one this summer... so it would be last fall -- my precious black one that I can't use!!! I LOVE that bag! I WANT to use that bag! (that's probably the reason I can't find one... because I have one that I just LOVE!) I can't use it because Mom always thinks it's hers and goes through it and takes things... *sigh* It's HARD to find a great Fall/Winter bag that's not black! You need BLACK for winter!!!

9. Did you play with purses when you were a kid?
I was a very girly little girl... I'm suuuuuure I did! As a matter of fact, I KNOW I did! My mother had purses and hats put away in her closet, and every now and then I was allowed to get them all out and play -- with her high heels too! WOW! I had forgotten ALL about that -- and that is a GREAT memory!!! She had sO many hat boxes up in her closet! She had a black fedora... and a couple of little pillbox hats. And of course, Easter bonnets! Ohhhhhh NO WONDER I love hats!!! Yea... I played with purses! Indeed I did!

10. Does your wallet have to match your purse?
No. As a matter of fact, most of the time my wallet isn't even IN my purse... which got me in trouble in Delaware when I got pulled over and didn't have my registration... *sigh*... I HAD my license! But the registration was in my wallet back at the beach house!

The Hubby Meme... My Blogging Personality... and Stuff...

I found this Hubby meme over at Barbara H's Stray Thoughts the other day - and I've NEVER done a Hubby meme before so I jumped right on it! It could be a Wife meme too I suppose...

Dennis & I on our anniversary at the Comedy Club

1. He’s sitting in front of the TV; what is on the screen?
Probably the History Channel, the Science Channel, or that singing show with Simon...

2. You’re out to eat; what kind of dressing does he get on his salad?
Ranch

3. What’s one food he doesn’t like?
Green peppers!

4. You go out to the bar. What does he order?
Miller Light

5. Where did he go to high school?
Crossland Senior High

6. What size shoe does he wear?
10.5

7. If he was to collect anything, what would it be?
Well... he has Harley stuff, he has trains, he has antique tools and lately
he's into radio controlled helicopters...
I don't think he's in the market for any new collections! (I HOPE!)

8. What is his favorite type of sandwich?
Oh boy! He loves them ALL! Probably a cold-cut sub! LTM!

9. What would this person eat every day if he could?
I'm thinking a cheeseburger - off the grill - not fast food.

(like twice in twenty years!)

11. What would he never wear?

That was fun!

I found THIS little test over at Gattina's yesterday...
Had to try it out, of course!

Your Blogging Type is Artistic and Passionate

You see your blog as the ultimate personal expression - and work hard to make it great.
One moment you may be working on a new dramatic design for your blog...
And the next, you're passionately writing about your pet causes.
Your blog is very important - and you're careful about who you share it with.

Hmmmm... I think this is mostly accurate!
I don't tend to work as much on how my blog looks...
once I get something I like I kinda stick with it for the
most part... but it is important that it reflects ME.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Soooooo... My Krysti is in Pennsylvania this weekend with the Debate Team! She's never done debate before -- her High School didn't offer debate - they had Mock Trial instead. She DID Mock Trial - and LOVED it! But she's always wanted to try Debate - and Mary Washington apparently has a very good team! So, this being her first year, she is a novice... but she is a very hard worker and she and her partner have been burning the midnight oil getting ready for this weekend! It began on Friday and she was so sad because they lost both of their first two debates. But Saturday went MUCH better and they WON 3 out of 4!!! That put them at 3-3. She was not sure that was going to be good enough to send them on to the next round - but they got word around 9 o'clock last night that they DO move on! So she will be debating again today, and this is the final day of this meet or match or whatever debates go by! If you're inclined, you could say a wee little prayer for her success! You know I have...
Tomorrow I will post my FINAL adventure with Ella. Then she will be packing her trunk and moving on her way... Stay tuned!
A New Meme! ... Open Doors... and Friday stuff...
My friend Barbara H. over at Stray Thoughts THOUGHT up this meme and started it all on her little own! It's relevant to us all, so of course I am playing! (and I would even if it had no relevance at all...)
How do you feel about being tagged for memes?
I don't mind being tagged a bit! As a matter of fact, I LOVE doing memes! Problem is I've DONE most of them, so they're hard to find different ones anymore! Some that I haven't done for a long long time I've repeated. My readership is somewhat different now than it was... so I figure it's okay!
Do you participate in any regular weekly memes? Which ones?
Oy! I have a meme for almost every day of the week. I'm trying to cut back on some... but sometimes when you DON'T have anything on your brain, they help to give ya something! Lately though, I'm really IN to these photo challenges! They are enriching my life on many different levels, and I think I'll probably stick with them! I LIKE the memes that ask weekly questions - except that soooooo many times the questions revolve around television or movies or the entertainment industry. That just doesn't work for me.
Have you found any bloggers that you began to read regularly after participating in a meme with them?
Funny you should ask... MOST of my blogging friends I have met through one meme or another. And many I really don't remember which meme they came from. I know I met Lazy Daisy and Barbara Miers through the Blog Olympics! That was just a blast! But Daisy was also doing Thursday Thirteen at that time - and so was I. I met Flip Flop Floozie, and LadyBugCrossing through Lazy Daisy. The one I DON'T remember how I met is Quilly... cuz she never did memes. Quilly? Do YOU remember? Maybe you found me!
Do you know of any readers who found you through a meme and became regular readers?
All of the above mentioned... plus I think Jane, probably through TT, or WW. Maybe it was Friday Feast... Dang! It all runs together now!
Did you find any favorite blogs through comments or blogrolls on others’ blogs?
Well, see... here's the thing. It's all sort of a process to becoming a regular reader and then a "friend". First you start in a meme... and you like a person's style, and then you read the comments that they leave in other blogs - and in your own too, of course - and they grow on you. So then you start lingering on their blog past the meme and you see what they had to say during the week, and you may leave a comment or two or five... and before you know it you're reading them everyday or at least every OTHER day just to keep up ... and before you know it they FEEL like a friend even if they don't know it!!! Next thing you know you're having lunch with them somewhere while your husband worries that you or them might be an axe murderer and if things REALLY go well, you invite yourself back to spend the night at their house! (did I just skirt this question?)
Did you find any favorite blogs from someone else’s recommendation?
Absolutely positively - but I'm DUMB! Quilly told me about Dr. John aaaaages ago... Melli, read him... I think you'll like him. So I stopped in and I read him and I totally didn't GET him. And I left and didn't think much of it again... until he joined a photo hunt. And then I was visiting him everyday to see his pictures and I was learning about his family, and I started reading about that make believe village in his basement and before I knew it I was just absolutely HOOKED on Dr. John!!!
If you comment on someone’s blog, do you expect a response? If so, do you prefer that response to come through an e-mail, a comment from them on the same post, or a comment on your blog?
Honestly I really don't expect a response from most people. I don't leave my real email addy in the comment forms - I learned long ago that to keep spam to a minimum do NOT put your addy in those things! And I get almost zero spam! Sooooo... unless they are regulars who HAVE an email for me... or they are willing to follow me back to my page and hunt down my email addy, they won't get through to me. I tried doing that comment to the comments thing ... and I gotta tell ya that's just a nuisance! I LOVE that Quilly does it - and a few others - and I go back to see what they said! But most people don't come back and never see your response. So then what? Lately what I've been doing - since I have started doing just a little blabber about nothing every day, is if there was a question from a regular the day before I might say something about it. Sometimes I go back to their blog and answer the question... it really all depends. For myself, if I ask a question, I guess I'd rather have the response in my blog... I dunno.
Do you ever struggle with your blogging “voice”?
I do not struggle for ONE minute with my blogging voice! My blogging voice is my same voice as if we're talkin' in person! If you think you KNOW me from reading my blog - you probably do! Now... I don't share EVERYthing on my blog... and I do try to keep my blog up-key. So some people are mistaken by thinking that I am ALWAYS "up" and always "on"... and of course, that is not true for ANYone! But what you DO get from me is all me - it all genuine!
Are there certain types of blogs that attract you?
Yes. I can't tell you what they are... but I know when I hit one! My newest blog friend, Lanny... I literally STUMBLED upon her blog... followed a link, saw a comment, clicked here, clicked there ... suddenly there I was and my first comment to her was "HOW COME I've never read you before? How have I NOT seen your blog before?" She and I just clicked! I do know this... about 90% of my most favorite blogs belong to Christians. But that's not a requirement. I have verrrrrrrry good non-Christian blogging friends. I like a "positive" blog. I like positive attitudes and respect for people and Love! And I think part of the attraction of having blogging friends is that I can pick and choose from such a wiiiiiiiiiiide variety of people who I really DO want to be close friends with. In real life, we are stuck with the people who live and work near us. Those who attend our church and the parents of our children's friends. We rarely get to CHOOSE who we will converse with on a daily basis. We take life as it comes. But in the blog world, we have more control. We can be more choosy. We can surround ourselves with ONLY those who's company we REALLY REALLY enjoy!!! What a wonderful thing!!!
Are there certain types of blogs that repel you?
Absolutely!!! The exact opposite of what I just spoke of. If a blog is focused on negativity... people bashing, whining, complaining, profanity ... Well - it's cyberspace. We all have a right to say whatever we want. But we also all have the choice NOT to visit blogs that offend us. 'Nuff said.
What time of day do you usually blog?
La la la la la... alllllllllllllll day ... every day.... la la la la la! I definitely blog with my coffee... and I definitely blog the night away! In between I have to live a life so I have something to blog about! Right?
Do your family and friends know about your blog?
They DO!
Do they read it?
Well... Krysti has been the last few days... I wonder how long that will last! The others? NO! I have to BEG them to read my blog!
Do they mind if you mention them?
LOL! I've never asked them! I don't really talk that much ABOUT them, do I? But since I mostly keep everything in a positive light I don't think they mind. I don't really share their "personal" stuff. Mostly what you guys hear about them is just in the family outting type things. I've shared excitement over some of their accomplishments! They wouldn't mind that! When trouble hits, I usually just ask for prayers and don't give much in the way of details... God knows what you're prayin' for -- you don't need to!
Do they suggest posts for it?
I think Krysti has suggested something once or twice. Hehehe... they don't so much "suggest" it as they "accept it" ... as in Oh geez... Mom's gonna blog this...
"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
And then I got this meme from Baba yesterday! I enjoyed it - you will too! No tags - but if you do it, let me know!
What kind of soap is in your bathtub right now?
We are all ZESTfully clean right now!
Do you have any watermelon in your refrigerator?
Nope! But I have one in the back seat of my car!
What would you change about your living room?
Well... for starters I'd clean it! Beyond that, everything! I'm very tired of my current decor and really REALLY want a change!
Are the dishes in your dishwasher clean or dirty?
They are clean. I should be in there emptying it instead of in here typing...
What is in your fridge?
Food! What do you keep in yours?
White or wheat bread?
In the fridge? No! I keep my bread on the counter... I like whole grain any kind... and the rest of the family eats Italian White or Potato Bread.
What is on top of your refrigerator?
Can we NOT go there? Ugh! DUST! LOTS of dust! And paper towels... a couple of bags of chips... paint supplies... maybe a monster or two...
What color or design is on your shower curtain?
In our master bath it's a bamboo design... and in the other bath it is butterflies.
How many plants are in your home?
ZERO. I kill the outdoor plants... can you imagine an indoor plant having a chance?
Is your bed made right now?
*sigh* ... no... (i am sO busted!)
Comet or Soft Scrub?
Either/Or ... whatever gets the SCUM off!
Is your closet organized?
Whoooo hooo! ~~Happy Dances!~~ Yep! It sure is! Do I get extra points for this???
Can you describe your flashlight?
We have a DOZEN flashlights. NONE of them have working batteries!
Do you drink out of glass or plastic most of the time at home?
It's about 50/50...
Do you have iced tea made in a pitcher right now?
YEP! (MORE points for me!)
If you have a garage, is it cluttered?
I don't have a garage - my husband does! I would call it cluttered - but HE would call it organized. It's not a catch all garage - it's a wood shop garage. Oh... and motorcycles are allowed to park in it, but it's never seen a car!
Curtains or blinds?
Once upon a time I had both. NOW I have none! We live in the country where NO one can see in our windows without REALLY trying... and in recent years I got tired of things that collect dust - which curtains and blinds DO... and I like the naked look!
How many pillows do you sleep with?
I have two and hubby has two. And he better leave mine alone!!!
Do you sleep with any lights on at night?
Preferably not. Invariably my son comes home and leaves the hall light on... and it shines in through the den door... which we have to leave open so we can hear if mom gets up...
How often do you vacuum?
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! What's a vacuum?
No... really... we have a black lab & two cats... it has to be done a couple times a week!
Standard toothbrush or electric?
Electric!
What color is your toothbrush?
Pink & White
Do you have a welcome mat on your front porch?
I have a mat - but it doesn't say WELCOME. (it doesn't say GO AWAY either...)
What is in your oven right now?
A lot of baked on burnt on UCK!
(do you get the impression I should get OFF the computer now?)
Is there anything under your bed?
NO! (points please!) Okay... we have a waterbed - nothing CAN be under it!
Chore you hate doing the most?
ALL of them! (bathing mom...)
What retro items are in your home?
I don't do retro...
Do you have a separate room that you use as an office?
Ya know, we TRIED that! Do you know about "junk drawers"? Well, the office became a JUNK ROOM!
How many mirrors are in your home?
TEN! Wow! 3 of them are in Derek's room!
Do you have any hidden emergency money around your home?
No... Money doesn't work like that for me! Now, HUBBY has money stashed - but I don't know where it is -- otherwise it wouldn't be stashed!
What color are your walls?
This is going to SOUND horrible - but it's not - really! Some are Navy blue. Some are GOLD. Some are BRIGHT red! Some are tan. Some are BRILLIANT Yellow. Some are baby blue. BUT... soon I think I'm going to be changing all the color schemes! I want to go to soft and muted. I'm REALLY bored with my house right now!
Do you keep any kind of protection weapons in your home?
LOTS of weapons! NO ammo!
What does your home smell like right now?
Dog.
Favorite candle scent?
Vanilla or cinnamon.
What kind of pickles (if any) are in your refrigerator right now?
Dill chips.
What color is your favorite Bible?
Brown - right now it's my only Bible - given to me by my good friend Lazy Daisy!
Ever been on your roof?
Yes, I have! SOMEbody has to put up the Christmas lights!
Do you own a stereo?
Yep! I've got a 5 cd changer!
How many TVs do you have?
I personally have none! The FAMILY has 5 of them.
How many house phones?
We are down to ONE house phone... which only answers junk calls with the answering machine! We use our cells for real calls!
Do you have a housekeeper?
Me, myself, and I! I should them all though! They do a lousy job!
What style do you decorate in?
Style?
Do you like solid colors in furniture or prints?
Depends. I like NICE!
Is there a smoke detector in your home?
Yes! (does it work? That's a different question!)
In case of fire, what are the items in your house which you’d grab if you only could make one quick trip?
I used to have a list of things ... but anymore I just don't care about STUFF at all. I'd get the people and the pets!
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
Last night was my LAST Bible study for the next FIVE weeks! Aaaaaaaagh! I'm going to lose my MIND! I definitely did not plan it this way! Our instructor is going on vacation for the next two weeks (while I'm HERE) and then I am going when she gets back - and will be gone for the 3 weeks. So, although I'm really HAPPY about going back to the beach, which I LOVE, I'm very sad that I will miss 3 weeks of Bible study while I'm gone! The next two weeks doesn't bother me so much because the group just isn't meeting ... so I'm not MISSING anything! It's those other 3 weeks that are driving me nuts! We have the BEST discussions and I just don't want to MISS one! I told them I think we should do teleconferencing! Don't you think that would be a good idea? I do! LoL! I will have the study materials and will work on it on my own at the beach... but that is just NOT the same as the great discussions... I learn WAY more when I'm there!
I won't be around again today. Krysti & I are going to Annapolis - she gave Luz a trip to Build-A-Bear for her birthday - so they are going to do that by themselves - and then I'm going to catch up with them and take Krys to get some clothes for the new school year! Talk about last minute - she leaves TOMORROW! LOL! See ya this evening!
