ByeBye Reflections.... and Wordzzle...

REFLECT THIS...
Day 7

A glance at Luzi Loo in my rear-view!
*yes! we were stopped at a light!*

Many THANKS to Quilly for hosting this great challenge
this week! I've never noticed sooooo many reflections in
all my life!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Each week Raven challenge's the blogosphere to come up with a story or a poem or some sort of prose involving a list of 10 words she gives us. This week I got caught up in this insanity! Because I don't have enough other things to keep me busy... But it was fun! I don't know if I can DO this every week -- but this week I succeeded at stringing some words together! Below are the 10 words given us, and my attempt! (she also offers up a 5 word mini challenge and a Super-Challenge ... but I only chose to do the 10 word challenge... this time.)
10 word challenge -- tiramisu, transfixed, evacuation, Queen of the
Nile, pillowcase, grammatical, voice inflection, pacified, microclimate, swami
When he entered the apartment, I was seated like a swami on my huge overstuffed pillow. The one with the gold satin pillowcase. Queen of the Nile was playing on the big screen in front of me, and a plate of half eaten tiramisu was by my side. His gaze was transfixed on my lacy black teddy, but romance was far from his mind. "Are you INSANE?!", he bellowed. "Do you NOT know that the island is under mandatory evacuation!?" Glancing his way, and with completely stable voice inflection, I assured him that I had no intention of leaving until my movie was over. I invited him to take off his jacket, as I was sure it was the heat of our microclimate that was causing him to perspire, and then I offered him a piece of my tiramisu. But the boy would not be pacified and ran, muttering grammatical atrocities, from the apartment. Poor thing... he's always so melodramatic.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Since I am actually UP posting at 3:40 in the morning... you can be assured that Luz is safely tucked in her bed and I am trying to catch up! She is going home late this afternoon - when I take her there... so I'll be around to MOST of you this evening! I may find a minute or two to visit a few of you during the day! Depends... It's amazing to me (everytime) how time consuming ONE little girl can be! But I'd never trade her for ... ANYthing! 2 more hours til coffee... I'm goin' back to bed now!!!

Reflect This - Day 6...

REFLECT THIS...
Day 6

Sometimes when you're looking for something...
like a reflection...

if it were a snake it would of bit ya!

Such was the case when I was washing my hands
in this ladies room...

and lamenting the fact that I'd not yet
found
a decent reflection...
until I went to DRY my hands...
and it almost BIT me!

Reflect This is being hosted by Quilly
It runs 8/17 - 8/23
If you want to play along, pop over and see her!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Luz Estrella is coming to play today! And spend the night tonight! Yippee! I don't suspect I'll be around much this afternoon or evening... but I will get as much visiting done as I can this morning! Oh boy Oh boy! I WONDER what we'll get into today! I LOVE it when she comes HERE to play!
Krysti is all settled in at her new college! She was NOT happy leaving "the real world" to go back to school! She had been working at the Sheriff's Office all Spring & Summer -- and she was making decent money too! $12/hr! So, it was a little bit hard to leave a job she LOVED, in her field, and go back to get that education -- so that she can go on to do MORE in her field and make bigger bucks! She knows that's "out there" -- but at 19, $12/hr is hard to let go of! And of course, she's gotten to be good friends with all the cops, and all the office ladies... so it was hard to leave friends too. But she's there NOW and getting "oriented" and classes will start on Monday -- and her roommate is her BEST FRIEND since birth! Sooooo life WILL be good! The new school is only an hour and a half away -- so she can come home any weekend she wants. And as a matter of fact, she will be home in two weeks because she has to be in court to testify on an arrest she was in on. Exciting stuff! (oh! I forgot to tell you guys she got to spend 3 hours on a high speed chase a couple of weeks ago! Man! She was wired for DAYS after that event!) LOL!
So, once again I am left with only ONE kid left at home. I wonder how long it will last THIS time... Actually... I need to start working on wigglin' HIM out the door. He's gonna be a toughy. But he's also the one that once he goes, he WON'T be back. I'll be lucky if I ever see him again! And that kinda keeps me from rushing him... *sigh*
Thursday 13 - The X Factor.... Reflect This - Day 5... and schtuff....
Thursday 13
The one I have been putting off 4-Ever!
In which Melli tries to use 13 X-words
in some semi-meaningful way...
but let's get this straight...
Spelling does NOT count!
1. Xeroses -- Dry skin! I have it! My children say my skin is like an alligator. This probably makes me VALUABLE on some level!
2. Xyster -- Since X's are kisses and O's are hugs, this is sort of like kissing an Oyster! (this is definitely from the dictionary of Mellisms ... if you want the REAL definition you'll have to look it up yourself ... but mine is better!)
3. XEBEC -- defined as a "small, 3 masted, Mediterranean vessel" - I'm thinking that means SAILBOAT! I'll take one! If they're really small I'll take TWO! (do masts have another purpose?)
4. Xenon -- A colorless odorless gas... I wish this is what hubby was passing! (but it's not!)
5. Xorbitant -- the price of gas! (NOT the kind hubby was passing)
6. Xenial -- When company comes to my house, I like to be xenial! Baba was very xenial when the Blogger Babes visited her home the first time! (look it up! I don't have to explain everything!)
7. Xplain -- That which I don't have to do!!! Figure it out!
8. Xerox -- the brand that MY copier is NOT!
9. Xpress -- I would RATHER xpress myself without X-words, thank you!
10. Xtinct -- I really really wish that dragons and unicorns were not ALMOST xtinct!
11. Xamine -- What I should have done to my head for getting involved in this alphabet 13!!!
12. Xperience -- Coming up with a solution to this letter was quite an Xperience.
13. Xhausted -- What I am after entertaining all these stupid X-words!
And now I'm done! Ha ha ha ha ha ha! And Y and Z are a piece o' cake!!! Yahoooooo! I'm almost through the alphabet!
REFLECT THIS
Day 5
Two MORE planes reflected in the shiny black nose
of this one!
*nods*
#############
Yea... Mom & I went down to St. Mary's county yesterday. We went to lunch at a place called Cheeseburger In Paradise -- it was really CUTE! Jimmy Buffet playin' on the stereo, Tiki Bar-ish decor, you could sit outside if you wanted to -- but all you got for a view was Route 235! I wasn't into that! We stayed inside and pretended we were at the beach! I had a not very good buffalo chicken salad (which is my new obsession - well, I prefer GOOD ones - but - you know) and Mom had a really GREAT cheeseburger that I will get next time! It had swiss cheese, red & yellow peppers and Asiago sauce - on a whole wheat bun! I almost stole it from her! After that we headed down to Point Lookout which I had never been to before and wanted to find out what was down there. Turned out not much. A little campground, a swimmin' beach with a playground, a fishin' pier... that was about it! More of the same stuff we have near home - but not quite as nice... Guess I'll pass on takin' Luz down there! On the way back we stopped at the Patuxent Naval Air Station MUSEUM. That is where today's reflection photo came from. It's a very small museum - but it had a couple of neat things in it. It's free - so it was worth stopping at! It took up time and kept us out on a beautiful day! (AND scored me a good reflection!) That's about all I ask anymore! LOL! Life has gotten sO simple...
Reflect THIS!!! ... and ... I'm a Font!
REFLECT THIS!!!
Day 4
So, I'm toolin' down the road to the mall yesterday and Krysti was following me in her car because at some point we were going to part ways... So anyway, we stop at this stop light and I look over and there's this big ol' ... BIG OL' shiny red dump truck -- with BIG OL' shiny wheels! And I glance at the wheels, and suuuuuure enough - MY car is reflected in them! I was sO excited I just knew I'd never get my camera out of my purse and opened and focused and and and ... but I did! I got the shot! I GOT THE SHOT!!! (did you hear me? I GOT the shot!) And then the light turned green! And I hoped ALL day that it was IN focus! And it was! You can BIG it! Go ahead! Ohhhh it really is the LITTLE things in life that make us SO happy! I can hear God gigglin' over my shear JOY from this moment!
******************************
And then I found another one of these silly little quiz thingamajigs over at Barbara H's place ... and I had to take it...
... of course ...
But THIS one hit the nail on the head!
THIS could not be MORE right if all my friends got
together and wrote it themselves!
So... What FONT am I?
You Are Comic Sans
You are a nothing but a big goofball. You're quite playful and fun!
You're widely known for your zany personality and your vivacious attitude.
To say that you stand out in a crowd would be a definite understatement.
Remember that you are overwhelming at times and that people appreciate you best in small doses.
True that!
What Font Are You?
Ruby Tuesday... Reflect This... and a Tuesday Meme!
and REFLECT THIS...
Day 3
Yesterday I went looking for a red reflection...
...and I found it! I present here one small
corner of Small Town America! There is a
gas station and the dance studio reflected in
the sign. And this will satisfy both of my
photographic requirements for today! YAY!
Reflect This is being hosted by Quilly
It runs 8/17 - 8/23
If you want to play along, pop over and see her!
RUBY Tuesday is hosted by Mary, The Teach
It plays every Tuesday! (duh!)
If you want to play along, sign her linky!
"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
And then I got this meme from Baba yesterday! I enjoyed it - you will too! No tags - but if you do it, let me know!
What kind of soap is in your bathtub right now?
We are all ZESTfully clean right now!
Do you have any watermelon in your refrigerator?
Nope! But I have one in the back seat of my car!
What would you change about your living room?
Well... for starters I'd clean it! Beyond that, everything! I'm very tired of my current decor and really REALLY want a change!
Are the dishes in your dishwasher clean or dirty?
They are clean. I should be in there emptying it instead of in here typing...
What is in your fridge?
Food! What do you keep in yours?
White or wheat bread?
In the fridge? No! I keep my bread on the counter... I like whole grain any kind... and the rest of the family eats Italian White or Potato Bread.
What is on top of your refrigerator?
Can we NOT go there? Ugh! DUST! LOTS of dust! And paper towels... a couple of bags of chips... paint supplies... maybe a monster or two...
What color or design is on your shower curtain?
In our master bath it's a bamboo design... and in the other bath it is butterflies.
How many plants are in your home?
ZERO. I kill the outdoor plants... can you imagine an indoor plant having a chance?
Is your bed made right now?
*sigh* ... no... (i am sO busted!)
Comet or Soft Scrub?
Either/Or ... whatever gets the SCUM off!
Is your closet organized?
Whoooo hooo! ~~Happy Dances!~~ Yep! It sure is! Do I get extra points for this???
Can you describe your flashlight?
We have a DOZEN flashlights. NONE of them have working batteries!
Do you drink out of glass or plastic most of the time at home?
It's about 50/50...
Do you have iced tea made in a pitcher right now?
YEP! (MORE points for me!)
If you have a garage, is it cluttered?
I don't have a garage - my husband does! I would call it cluttered - but HE would call it organized. It's not a catch all garage - it's a wood shop garage. Oh... and motorcycles are allowed to park in it, but it's never seen a car!
Curtains or blinds?
Once upon a time I had both. NOW I have none! We live in the country where NO one can see in our windows without REALLY trying... and in recent years I got tired of things that collect dust - which curtains and blinds DO... and I like the naked look!
How many pillows do you sleep with?
I have two and hubby has two. And he better leave mine alone!!!
Do you sleep with any lights on at night?
Preferably not. Invariably my son comes home and leaves the hall light on... and it shines in through the den door... which we have to leave open so we can hear if mom gets up...
How often do you vacuum?
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! What's a vacuum?
No... really... we have a black lab & two cats... it has to be done a couple times a week!
Standard toothbrush or electric?
Electric!
What color is your toothbrush?
Pink & White
Do you have a welcome mat on your front porch?
I have a mat - but it doesn't say WELCOME. (it doesn't say GO AWAY either...)
What is in your oven right now?
A lot of baked on burnt on UCK!
(do you get the impression I should get OFF the computer now?)
Is there anything under your bed?
NO! (points please!) Okay... we have a waterbed - nothing CAN be under it!
Chore you hate doing the most?
ALL of them! (bathing mom...)
What retro items are in your home?
I don't do retro...
Do you have a separate room that you use as an office?
Ya know, we TRIED that! Do you know about "junk drawers"? Well, the office became a JUNK ROOM!
How many mirrors are in your home?
TEN! Wow! 3 of them are in Derek's room!
Do you have any hidden emergency money around your home?
No... Money doesn't work like that for me! Now, HUBBY has money stashed - but I don't know where it is -- otherwise it wouldn't be stashed!
What color are your walls?
This is going to SOUND horrible - but it's not - really! Some are Navy blue. Some are GOLD. Some are BRIGHT red! Some are tan. Some are BRILLIANT Yellow. Some are baby blue. BUT... soon I think I'm going to be changing all the color schemes! I want to go to soft and muted. I'm REALLY bored with my house right now!
Do you keep any kind of protection weapons in your home?
LOTS of weapons! NO ammo!
What does your home smell like right now?
Dog.
Favorite candle scent?
Vanilla or cinnamon.
What kind of pickles (if any) are in your refrigerator right now?
Dill chips.
What color is your favorite Bible?
Brown - right now it's my only Bible - given to me by my good friend Lazy Daisy!
Ever been on your roof?
Yes, I have! SOMEbody has to put up the Christmas lights!
Do you own a stereo?
Yep! I've got a 5 cd changer!
How many TVs do you have?
I personally have none! The FAMILY has 5 of them.
How many house phones?
We are down to ONE house phone... which only answers junk calls with the answering machine! We use our cells for real calls!
Do you have a housekeeper?
Me, myself, and I! I should them all though! They do a lousy job!
What style do you decorate in?
Style?
Do you like solid colors in furniture or prints?
Depends. I like NICE!
Is there a smoke detector in your home?
Yes! (does it work? That's a different question!)
In case of fire, what are the items in your house which you’d grab if you only could make one quick trip?
I used to have a list of things ... but anymore I just don't care about STUFF at all. I'd get the people and the pets!
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
Last night was my LAST Bible study for the next FIVE weeks! Aaaaaaaagh! I'm going to lose my MIND! I definitely did not plan it this way! Our instructor is going on vacation for the next two weeks (while I'm HERE) and then I am going when she gets back - and will be gone for the 3 weeks. So, although I'm really HAPPY about going back to the beach, which I LOVE, I'm very sad that I will miss 3 weeks of Bible study while I'm gone! The next two weeks doesn't bother me so much because the group just isn't meeting ... so I'm not MISSING anything! It's those other 3 weeks that are driving me nuts! We have the BEST discussions and I just don't want to MISS one! I told them I think we should do teleconferencing! Don't you think that would be a good idea? I do! LoL! I will have the study materials and will work on it on my own at the beach... but that is just NOT the same as the great discussions... I learn WAY more when I'm there!
I won't be around again today. Krysti & I are going to Annapolis - she gave Luz a trip to Build-A-Bear for her birthday - so they are going to do that by themselves - and then I'm going to catch up with them and take Krys to get some clothes for the new school year! Talk about last minute - she leaves TOMORROW! LOL! See ya this evening!
Reflect This - Day 2...
REFLECT THIS...
Day 2
Candles in Krysti's Guitar
Reflect This is being hosted by Quilly
It runs 8/17 - 8/23
If you want to play along, pop over and see her!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Luz's birthday party was amazingly wonderful! They had it at the gym where she takes gymnastics and all the kids had a really good time! They all got to play on all the equipment -- the trampolines and balance beams and rings and EVERYTHING!!! And of course, with the Olympics going on, they are ALL going to be Olympic STARS one day! It was sooooooo cute! So after an hour and a half of play, (during which time Nana's camera battery started flashing... and she had to stop taking pictures to save some for the CAKE) we went in to have the cake! It was 4 of the Disney Princesses and it was gorgeous! Belle, Arial, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. Needless to say, Luz LOVED it! And I could not believe the way she ate that cake! She is usually the daintiest little eater - never makes a mess at all - but let me tell you - she was HUNGRY - and she LOVED that cake!!! It was funny!

Making a wish!

Nana's BIG BOX was the last one she opened!

It was quite a hit!
A box FULL of costumes and dress up
items! Luz dug through it all and came
up with all 4 purses I had put in there!
That child LOVES her accessories!
Hats, handbags, shoes, and sunglasses!
She'd run around naked as long as
she's well accessorized!
LOL!

We actually ended up celebrating Krysti's B-day BEFORE we went to Luz's party! Good thing because we ended up staying at their house for quite awhile after the party. Anyway ... the guitar up above is what Krysti got for her birthday! And she was very happy too!

Reflect This - Day 1

REFLECT THIS
Day 1

This is a repeat - but one worth repeating!
Me on the back of Dennis' motorcycle
reflected in his helmet!
I LOVE this shot!
And I love reflecting on the fun he & I had that day...

I'm fairly certain this is the only reflection I have in my archives...
so the rest of the week will be all brand new!

Reflect This is being hosted by Quilly
It runs 8/17 - 8/23
If you want to play along, pop over and see her!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have a very busy day ahead and will not be around again until this evening. (MY time) LoL! First, of course, is church. Then, our little Luz is having her 4th birthday party today ... and it's mostly an all day afair! Her "party" is at her gymnastics gym, and then the family is going back to her house. And then this evening we are going to celebrate Krysti's birthday here at home, because *SOB* she leaves for college on Wednesday! She won't be coming home for her actual birthday in September -- and I will be at the beach then anyway! So, it's a crazy day here! (aren't they all?) I will check in on your blogs this evening though! Have a GREAT day!
